British diplomats concerned if Jews live near their E. Jerusalem consulate they might spy on them
The U.K. envoys also expressed concern that construction activity so close to the consulate could lead to an intelligence leak. British diplomats touring the Shepherd Hotel recently in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah expressed concern about Israeli construction plans there, particularly in light of the site's close proximity to the British consulate in East Jerusalem.

Doesn't get much more stupid than that. Open a consulate in a country that defines itself as the Jewish state, in which some 75% of the population are Jewish, and then try to keep the Jews away. Brilliant.
