It is certain that this town dates back nearly 1500 years at the time of beginning of the Greek civilization. The residents of the town used boiled water from spring to craft bricks made up of salt, which was used by them for trading for preserved meat.
At that time it was believed that salt was considered as one of the most valuable trading products, which can also be reflected in the strong walls that protected the town.

It certainly is described as a Greek city, of medieval settlements or ancient Rome settlements, but the archaeologists believe that he town belongs to the 5th millennium BC.

Krum Bachvarov , who is an archaeologist added that great walls that protected the city from the outside world were crafted from Huge stones, and is something that has not been seen in any of the earlier excavations of this time in Europe and south-east till present time. he made this statement to AFP.

There was also discovery of salt mines that were of similar types in Turda and Tuzla in Bosnia and Romania which provides with sufficient proof for the existence of such civilization that were indulged in Gold and Copper mining in Balkan mountains and Carpathian at the same time in the history.

Nicky Thorpe, who is the correspondent for BBC added that this discovery proves that the treasure that was discovered in Varna outskirts certainly is a Huge gold hoard and is the oldest of its type.
