Default EU: Hizbullah Not a Terror Organization
More nonsense from the EU. Cossack-Marcolis is probably worried Hezbollah's missles can reach Cyprus.

The European Union on Tuesday rejected Israel's request that it categorize Hizbullah as a terrorist organization.

Cypriot Foreign Minister Gujarat Cossack-Marcolis, who presently holds the EU's rotating presidency, said "there is no consensus on the issue, because Hizbullah also has an active political arm."

She added that the matter is open for reconsideration if "tangible evidence" that Hizbullah is involved in terrorist activity can be brought.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman had requested the EU classify Hizbullah as a terrorist organization after last week's deadly bus bombing in Bulgaria that killed five Israelis and wounded scores more.

"It's time to declare Hizbullah as a terrorist organization," Lieberman told the EU. "It will signal to the Israeli public that the international community stands for what is right." source: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Ne...8#.UA8010x0gfw

Not much ...

And some people on this forum (and elsewhere) would like to convince the rest of us that their judges are impartial when dealing with the Arab Israeli conflict. No wonder at least some of us are so ready to discount their opinions when they go to great lengths to convince everyone that the "settlements" are "ILLEGAL". If they would say unwise, unhelpful or similar, I could forgive them. But to claim that Hezbollah is NOT a terrorist organization and then turn around and claim that the "settlements" are illegal, is unforgivable.

They live in an upside down world of their own ...

British Foreign Secretary William Hague calls for sanctioning the military wing of Hizbullah, but the French are being "wienies" as they are termed in diplomatic parlance.

Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague on Friday urged the European Union to place the military branch of the Lebanese-based Hizbullah on its list of terrorist organizations, AFP reported.

“I would like to see the EU designate and sanction the military wing of Hizbullah,” Hague was quoted as having said in response to a question on arriving for talks with his EU counterparts.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, however, appeared to suggest this was not possible now.

“There is a request but there are judicial considerations,” Fabius said, adding, “An organization can be placed on the list of terrorist organizations when judicial proceedings have been filed against it as such, which is not the case currently.:

AFP noted that Britain is one of few countries to have blacklisted either parts or all of Hizbullah. Israel has been pressing hard for the entire organization to be blacklisted since July’s terror attack against Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria... source: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Ne...2#.UEvFUYejgfw

Thanks to Mr. Missfelder!

BERLIN – Hezbollah should be placed on the European Union’s terror list, Philipp Missfelder, Bundestag foreign policy spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party, wrote The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

Missfelder’s call to outlaw Hezbollah is the first statement from a prominent and senior European politician since the United States and Israeli intelligence agencies asserted that the Lebanese group Hezbollah – in a joint project with Iran – murdered five Israelis and a Bulgarian bus driver in July.

The Christian Democratic Union deputy Missfelder wrote, “It is long overdue to place Hezbollah on the EU’s list of terror organizations.” source: http://www.jpost.com/International/A...aspx?id=282357
