SINGAPORE: The government is reviewing the Casino Control Act, which governs the operations of the two Integrated Resorts (IRs) in Singapore.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Mr S Iswaran, said it's timely for the various agencies to review the regulations. He said Singapore has accumulated two years of experience with the IRs and has had the chance to look at other jurisdictions which have evolved in the management of IRs, and in particular, the casinos. Mr Iswaran, who chairs a joint committee which looks into issues concerning the two IRs, said the review will look at the economic, as well as the overall security and crime aspects concerning the two IRs. He hopes to give details about the review in the second half of this year. He was speaking to the media at the end of a community visit to the MacPherson division of Marine Parade GRC on Sunday. |

I rather they increase the levy so that fewer S'poreans will take up gambling .
The casinos are creating social problems for locals while most of the jobs go to foreigners. We should be asking for more jobs for locals in the casinos. I'm not going to any casino(or any company) so that some Pinoys with fake qualifications can steal jobs from locals. Anyway we should preserve what is uniquely Sillipore here-i.e the Bangla rubbish cleaner and his Pinoy/Indonesian maid girlfriend can go in free while citizens of the country cannot.First world indeed. |
