Such an incredible game. The US defense looked absolutely stellar today after getting dismantled by the likes of Brazil and Italy. Most complete game I've seen Donovan play in a while, and Tim Howard should be the player of this tournament.

As great as Demerit has been, Onyewu was just as good. Howard was a god-send today.

THAT RED CARD WAS UTTER BULLSHIT. FUCK THESE REFS AND THEIR HORRIBLY BIASED OFFICIATING.

He's good with possession, which is exactly what we need right now. Also, he's much better defensively at forward than any of our other options.

He had a great possession on Spain half at the end there. Ate up precious time with the man disadvantage, and he did a great job marking on Spain myriad of assaults at the end. He did exactly the job he was there to do.

Default confederations cup
starts sunday. us begins play monday against world champion italy. gonna be difficult to avoid seeing results but i will try my best. in typical us fashion we draw the group of death.

group a
south africa
spain
new zealand
iraq

group b
usa
italy
brazil
egypt

4 points would be quite a success imo and could possibly get them into the knockout stage.

would like to see a lineup of

--------------howard
bornstein--boca--gooch--spector
deuce---torres/feilhaber/adu--bradley--donovan
---------altidore-----davies

i doubt we will see a 4-4-2 against italy and brazil though, more likely a 4-5-1 with clark and bradley as holding mids and either torres/feilhaber/adu as attacking mid.

we were the only side to take a point off italy at the '06 world cup and would have taken 3 if it weren't for a horrendous offside call.
