How does "flat" make any more sense? What a bizarre country you have.
A self-contained living space occupying a single storey or part of a single storey. Not exactly two-dimensional, but flatter than a house.

I suppose apartment-mate is a bit unwieldy, but no excuse for the errant nonsense that is 'room-mate'.

An ass is a donkey. As arse is a bottom.

We don't say ass when we mean arse because we speak english.

To be clear, roommates in a dorm actually share a ROOM so the word is very accurate. This is a typical college dorm:

What do you call an abode that occupies the same floor as another person's abode? Split flat?
It's also a flat. See "or part of a single storey".

Yes. We have a wall running down the middle there.
Well no wonder the term 'roommate' has no meaning to you all. Students in the US who live in college dorms are literally roommates.

I'm a little surprised that you Brits are that concerned with privacy that you get your own rooms when you're on campus. Do you also not have a communal bathroom?

Honestly, back in 1980 I had more than half of that for myself including a bathroom with a shower

oh, and Im danish.
Well in the US, I guess our college students live a Barracks lifestyle or something. Really surprised that crowded Europe has the space for college students to have their own rooms, not share bathrooms with an entire floor of students, etc.

I had a single room starting second semester of my sophomore year. My room my senior year was HUGE. Always communal bathrooms, though (but not co-ed). My brother always had a roommate, but every two dorm rooms at his school shared a single bathroom in between them, so it was 4 to a bathroom, which isn't bad.

Dude, you went through the horror of dating a stripper and didn't even have sex with her. That's like seeing a bear trap loaded with candy, reaching in and triggering the trap, gnawing your hand off and walking away, leaving the candy in the sprung trap. You don't seem religious, and if you were you probably wouldn't be meeting up with strippers anyway; the simplest explanation is that you didn't actually want the candy.
Umm... she wasn't a stripper when I first started dating her. And thank god I never had sex with her! Who knows what I could have gotten.

Do Aspies have sex?

I'm sure that was your line of thought: "I'd better not hit that, she could turn out to be a stripper/hooker and give me herpes."

Do Aspies have sex? Do barely-closeted gay marines know how to respond to anything I say without referencing my brain structure? I had sex last night, with my probably-also-aspie but undiagnosed wife. It was fun.

This is THE real country. Yours is the joke with the fragile banking system, high crime rate, rampant poverty, socially authoritarian government, obese population, and massive debt. And baseball.
