SETI is searching for Cylons now
I think it's more likely we make contact with the remnants of some long dead civilization. With a 14 billion year old universe, there might have been civilizations roaming the stars 10 billion years ago.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/confused.gif What makes you think I won't pay taxes?
And my parents pay taxes for my public school education...other than that, I don't cost society ****. by the way the black background breaks the confused smiley.... PS I do pay taxes, which indirectly contribute to every government expenditure. Oh and one more thing, hearing the pornstar diss my education is pretty amusing http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif |
Yes, assuming medicare dies as I sincerely hope it does. With SS and Medicare and the healthcare bill, hard to say.
Yay I jacked a thread. Great. Go...me? not really... |
Okay, BlackCat just lost me with the medicare-is-free thing. I'm ducking out.
On topic: Is it just me or is the drake equation a giant steaming pile of ****? Can some scientists explain to me why it is or isn't the most ridiculous equation ever? |
HC, you don't pay jack crap in taxes. Yes, you're working but you're not making enough to be effectively paying taxes.

MRT is 26? WTF?

SETI is boring. We should be blasting armed probes (manned, unmanned, and/or womanned) into deep space more often. That and sending "spore pods" to likely habitable planets to see if we can god up the joint.

That's just your immaturity speaking. You're going to face life changing tragedy whether you like it or not; your aversion to risk taking is likely going to leave you worse for the wear.
|
Ah yes, I can see Hauldren's risks in life now; Where do I apply to grad school? Should I have another pint of beer? Popped collar or unpopped collar?
|
Interesting list, seeing as a) I am like Kuci and alcohol-averse, b) have no interest in going to grad school (at least for the moment, though things change in four years I know), and c) am not a hipster douche
xpost PS my father is an actuary, perhaps that has affected my aversion to risk http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif I'd say my brother is an actuary too, but until he finishes all the exams he's technically just a "consultant". |
