Holed up: Suspect hides on property for decade

This sounds like the natives here. Enforcing the law would be too hard so the authorities just take a pass.

While this guy is clearly a nutjob, there's no excuse for letting Valentine's kids be kept from him for over a decade. That is totally reprehensible.

Yea, it started out pretty cool that he pretty much sentinced himself to house arrest for 10 years. Everyone seemingly got what they want without a fuss.

But with the kids being kept there... ick. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif

Sopsneork 06-29-2010 05:54 AM

Just send the Texas Rangers in to get him and if he pulls a gun then shoot him. If they did it at 3:30 the guy would likely be caught in his underwear before he even knew what hit him.

Other article highlights: "Gun Barrel City, TX" and "Sheriff Ray Nutt."

Thereby confirming to the next Tim McVeigh the blood of tyrants must be spilled. A no knock raid on a guy for biting a cop 10+ years ago? If they just gotta get the guy, they should wait for him to leave the property and arrest him - just like what they should have done with the jogging Wacko from Waco...

You don't think he should face some kind of consequences for keeping Keith Tarkington's kids from their father?http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ons/icon13.gif
I dont know that he did, but the kids belong to Mom first.

That's actually not such a bad idea. Making it clear they had no intention of pursuing a 10 year old warrant may actually help with the children situation as well.
yup, its pointless to pursue the case and doing so will likely get someone hurt or killed.

apannamma 07-02-2010 05:33 AM

yes, confirming... The "militia" movement gets very upset when the authorities go after their "kin", and I dont blame 'em... I dont like it either, Waco and Ruby Ridge turned into Okla City, thats a bunch of innocent people 6 ft under because the authorities were unprofessional (and thats putting it nicely, bureaucratic heads should have rolled instead of medal ceremonies). And the guy aint on the run, he's at home. And they know it, they banished him. And if the cops did a late night no knock raid on the guy and he killed a cop in the confusion he'd be justified, even to many non rednecks. What is the point? I applaud the local authorities calm and restraint and I sure hope the attention doesn't result in pressuring them into a mistake.

craditc 07-02-2010 06:24 AM

"The gang members in the hood would be upset if we arrest gang members therefor we will not arrest gang members!"

Or how about we just arrest everyone who has a felony warrant out against them because it is the right thing to do?

VistaULTIMATEdownloadaPro 07-02-2010 06:36 AM

you were telling me about violent nutjobs?

l2read. The father has custody. This is essentially a kidnapping and the authorities are illegally consigning the children to the care of a lunatic.
I know he won in court, and I suspect the authorities decided in his favor because of her father. That aint good enough...

Thigmaswams 07-02-2010 07:53 AM

Anyone want to bet the nutjob didn't let the kids go to school like normal kids? (They might have been sent to, gasp, their father who has actual legal custody) Anyone want to bet they sequestered them in their 19th century style compound and thus made them uneducated rubes who have no hope of ever getting a real job? Not to mention kidnapping them from their father and then illegally holding them for over a decade with no running water, no electricity, no working sewage, and god knows what else. That in and of itself was the main reason Texas cops shouldn't have just sat around waiting for a decade and instead should have done something.

It says it right in the OP. The former wife took the children, the court ruled she was so unstable they gave custody to the father (which almost never happens) and yet because she was hiding out with her felon father on their weirdo compound the cops never came to enforce the law. You have a deranged grandfather/father who attacked a cop and tried to take away his gun because the cop pulled him over to give him a ticket for not registering his car and who then went on the run for over a decade and you have an ex-wife who kidnapped the kids because she didn't like the fact that the court found her too loony to raise kids. To top it off the bastard hasn't paid his taxes in years. The whole thing should have been resolved a decade ago simply because the child kidnapping made it a major issue yet here we are with the felon wackos still in charge.

cargo_brad 07-02-2010 08:39 AM

God damn it. Give me the legal cover and a few spare men and I would go get'em. I'm very confident that if I went in at 4am I could catch them completely unawares and if I didn't, well, I did get 39 out of 40 on the old Army firing range. Someone ought to give me a medal for shooting this wacko.

Does that make the use of the children as hostages less abominable or the violation of the Court order less illegal?
I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm agreeing with DD twice in one thread. The end is near!
