Default David James hits out at Capello
Wow, he sounds really pissed off at him. When mentioned that Capello said he thinks the team are playing with too much pressure he answered with a very abrupt "Does he?!" I think this sums up the team spirit. I feel there is something very wrong in the England camp and players are not happy at all. I have seen this sort of thing happen with Dutch teams over the years and it has always ended up in tears.

Capello did great in the qualifiers, but something has gone really wrong since we lost out last group game. Wonder what has happened?

Soccer? Meh!

Seem to quite a few teams and players who aren't performing to the level one may expect - some are really doing a sterling job, though!
The soccer supporters down here were positively wetting themselves after NZ score their first ever Final goal and drew in their opening match - and they were beside themselves when the Aussies went down by four goals!

Two words. Just two words and that's all you need, you can hear by the tone and inflection of his voice that he's majorly pissed off at Cappello, something has definitely happened that's got them all utterly pissed off.

There's another part around 50s in when the reporter asks if he can talk us through what's happened this week with the goal keeper situation and when he found out he would be playing, James replies:

"Well, i found out 5 minutes before i got on the bus, usual, usual standard, uhh, we trained, prepared for the match aaand, waited till today for the team announcement, so..normal"

This is obviously a bone of contention in the team atm, you can hear that he really wants to say something like : "usual bullshit" and when he's talking about it being "normal", he's really saying normal for Cappello, about what they've come to expect from him. David James is having to think hard about what he's saying and is struggling to hold back his emotions and what he really wants to say at that point.

Major friction going in the team between the players and Cappello, i think they've (the players) all decided between them to get him kicked out, what better way than to completely stuff the world cup and be out in the first round?

Yeah he sounds frustrated.

I always laugh when reporters ask if they are confident for their next game

"You're confident that England can do it on Wednesday?"

Is there any other answer he can give apart from yes?!

I agree Cole should come on and Heskey should **** off.

Is there any chance for England left? I guess we have to beat Slovenia (by a few goals) and then hope that America doesn't win?

All we need to do is win. If we want to finish ahead of the USA we just need to win by more than the USA do.

I always have to chuckle a bit at the "We" part when people talk about "their" favorite team

Honestly, think about it for a second.
There is no "We".
All you´re doing is particapating in a giant marketing play, being a consumer.
Do you really think for a second one of those over payed, non productive gaytards, that run around on the field shooting around a little ball even give a squirt of piss about you, or any other fan ?
Sure as long as a camera is rolling they might, but ffs.

sry that was my Sunday morning rant.
ps. i hate soccer with a passion.

If you're going to call them non-productive you'll have to call the whole entertainment industry non-productive, and we can all go about leading miserable, dull lives.

A high scoring draw would also be enough, but not really ideal and unlikely.

I guess you have a point,
Although in comparison the entertainment industry has something to show for (as in a product) whilst the brain dead soccer players do not produce anything of substance.

And btw, dude if your life were dull without those things we speak of, man [no]

If you don't 'get' football then don't post mate. As far as I'm concerned there's nothing that comes close to being in a stadium screaming at the top of your lungs along with 20000+ people all wanting the same thing. There's nothing like it and the world cup is that to the extreme. I also think you're wrong about them not caring, some certainly don't but I believe a good number really do.
Like I say, if you don't get it off you go and have your own whine thread.
Also yes, Heskey wtf? [cursing]

What if the USA win though?

Also, If the USA draw 0-0 and we (thats right... WE, as in England) draw 2-2, then I think we play pin the tail on the heskey (donky) to see who goes through between us and the USA. As we'd be level on points, goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head results.

Here ya go, all the possible outcomes.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...10/8749652.stm

ENGLAND BEAT SLOVENIA, USA DRAW OR LOSE AGAINST ALGERIA
The dour performance against Algeria is forgotten and a nation rejoices (or something like that) as England keep their World Cup hopes alive. England would qualify as Group C winners with five points and secure a meeting with the runners-up from Group D (possibly Germany). If USA draw, Slovenia advance as runners-up. If USA lose, goal difference would determine whether Slovenia (currently +1) or Algeria (-1) go through in second place.
ENGLAND BEAT SLOVENIA, USA BEAT ALGERIA
Fabio Capello can breathe easily in this instance too as England book their place in the last 16. England and USA would finish level on five points and goal difference would determine who progresses as Group C winners. If goal difference remains level, as is the case at the moment, goals scored (currently England 1, USA 3) would decide who finishes top.
ENGLAND DRAW, USA DRAW
In this scenario, England need a high scoring draw on Wednesday. Slovenia would go through as group winners, with England and USA finishing level on three points. Goals scored would decide who progresses. There is the possibility for drama even greater than that of a penalty shoot-out - if both sides are totally even then lots will be drawn to decide who goes through and who is out.
ENGLAND DRAW, USA WIN OR LOSE
England head for the departures gate and will probably not take much solace from the fact that they will be unbeaten and be home in time to watch the tennis at Wimbledon. Should USA win then they would finish level with Slovenia on five points and progress, should Bob Bradley's men lose then Algeria, with four points, would take the runners-up spot.
ENGLAND LOSE
Doomsday. England are eliminated and finish the group with two points. The post-mortem begins.

Everything you said is arguably correct for club football, but not for the World Cup. "We" in this case means 'The English and the England team (who are all English)' so assuming the poster is English it's an accurate usage of the word 'we'.

You're welcome.
