Default Quick HTML question
I have a web page here that when you hover over certain parts it pops up a tooltip giving further information. On IE (6, 7 & 8) the tooltip gets cut off after a certain number of characters. Works fine in Chrome & Firefox though, so I guess IE deals with the code differently.. but no idea how or why.

They are using the 'title' attribute (not alt) which is the right way to do this according to what I've read.

Any clues?..

You are correct, a title attribute is the correct one to use for links. The alt attribute is specifically for holding more information about an image to be displayed if the image doesn't load.

Can I see your code? IE can handle about 1000 characters in the title tag so it sounds a bit weird.

Cheers matey, unfortunately I can't show the code as it's work stuff. We have a team here that coded this site for the intranet yet somehow it's come to me even though I know very very little about html!

I've counted the characters and it cuts off randomly between 400 & 500 chars. It might be that this is just something they'll have to live with.
