Speaking of BDU's, I'm a little puzzled by why the Army unit shown in that article are wearing BDU's. It's hard to tell but it looks digital not like the old discontinued BDUs the Army used to have, like MARPATs even. Anyone know why they're not wearing dress or service or even ACUs?

It's trooping the colour, not the parade. And the uniform of the Kremlin regiment is quite exotic (sorta historical), not the ordinary dress uniform of the rest of the Russian army, of course.
