Is that Allstate's stand?
Not 100% what you mean by that. I worked for Allstate for about 13 years but that was over 10 years ago. But back then any familiarity in the field was beneficial for your career regardless of your department. If you were a full associate your chances of progressing to upper management were GREATLY improved even if you were in a department like IT. So the company would pay for all the stuff and give the rewards regardless of your career path. They also did the same for the LOMA insurance exams which were considerably easier. I passed the first couple after about an hour of studying and got a 1k reward.
I can't believe that their stance on these types of things have change much since then.

That's probably my problem. I'm no David Palmer.

I think they meant "stance", but by the time the arts majors who do marketing realized it, it was too late.

That's actually why I don't watch the show. The HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER when he says bazinga? HILARIOUS.

Hits too close to home? Kaley probably does nothing for you either. I see the angst of being a gay nerd now.

I don't have catchphrases.

When people laugh at me, it's either a nervous laugh or an uncomfortable laugh.

she's in it;

a) Your image doesn't show until you visit the site
b) I'd throw it in her, but that's not enough to make me watch a show

Make sure to thank your Dad for all his help. I don't thank my dad as much as I should.

and applied to a bunch of actuarial positions.

In a few weeks I will be working for a small (~50 professionals) actuarial consulting firm in NoVA. Pay is similar to the position with the web company I was going to work for, but I expect both short-term and long-term salary growth potential is a lot higher. I'll be working both as a consultant and a developer (they only have one professional on staff with a real software background, and so I'll be taking over a lot of internal software stuff from him) in a roughly 2:1 ratio.
