This seems like a good thread for this...

Foes of tea party movement to infiltrate rallies

ALBANY, N.Y. – Opponents of the fiscally conservative tea party movement say they plan to infiltrate and dismantle the political group by trying to make its members appear to be racist, homophobic and moronic.

Jason Levin, creator of http://www.crashtheteaparty.org, said Monday the group has 65 leaders in major cities across the country who are trying to recruit members to infiltrate tea party events for April 15 — tax filing day, when tea party groups across the country are planning to gather and protest high taxes.

"Every time we have someone on camera saying that Barack Obama isn't an American citizen, we want someone sitting next to him saying, 'That's right, he's an alien from outer space!'" Levin said.

Tea party members said the backlash comes from ignorance.

"They can't actually debate our message and that's their problem," said Bob MacGuffie, a Connecticut organizer for Right Principles, a tea party group that also has members in New York and New Jersey.

The tea party movement generally unites on the fiscally conservative principles of small government, lower taxes and less spending. Beyond that the ideology of the people involved tends to vary dramatically.

Levin says they want to exaggerate the group's least appealing qualities, further distance the tea party from mainstream America and damage the public's opinion of them.

"Do I think every member of the tea party is a homophobe, racist or a moron? No, absolutely not," Levin said. "Do I think most of them are homophobes, racists or morons? Absolutely."

The site manifesto says they want to dismantle the Tea Party by nonviolent means. "We have already sat quietly in their meetings, and observed their rallies," the site said.

Another tea party organizer said the attempt to destroy the movement was evidence its message is resonating.

"We've been ignored, we've been ridiculed. Well, now they're coming after us," said Judy Pepenella, a co-coordinator for the New York State Tea Party. "Gandhi's quote is one we understand: 'First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.'"

That's hilarious. The Tea Baggers are accusing THEM of ignorance!

Many TV and radio pundits were crying like little girls, including a few on FoxNews.

As an interventionist, I was busy thinking "go big government!"

I was not a fan of the education reform but am sympathetic to that. I did oppose the Farm Bill.

That's the one that gets me. Where the hell were these people a couple years ago?

The economy wasn't in the shitter a couple years ago, you morons. Lehman collapsed two months before Obama was elected, so it's no wonder he's had to deal with most of the popular anger resulting from the financial crisis and the subsequent economic troubles. He hasn't taken all of the blame, however, as the Tea Partiers have denounced TARP and other programs that were created in the final months of the Bush administration.

Right. Record budget deficits going nowhere but up and two wars put on the credit card and the finances weren't a problem pre-Obama.

Pull the other one.

Obama's broken all the records in terms of budget deficits. Maybe deficit spending was a problem before but it's clearly more of a problem now.

I'm not going to track down an old thread in order to answer yet another stupid question of yours. I've already explained things to you several times and offered you advice on what reading you can do to better educate yourself. I feel like I've done enough.

Obama makes light of anti-tax protests

President Barack Obama said Thursday he's amused by the anti-tax tea party protests that have been taking place around Tax Day.

Obama told a fundraiser in Miami that he's cut taxes, contrary to the claims of protesters.

"You would think they'd be saying thank you," he said.

At that, many in the crowd at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts stood and yelled, "Thank you!"

He really has no shame.

Ore. teacher, anti-tea party activist put on leave

PORTLAND, Ore. — An Oregon middle school teacher whose "Crash the Tea Party" Internet campaign drew national attention has been put on paid leave while school officials investigate whether he used school equipment or time to work on his Web site.

Beaverton educators were deluged with e-mails and phone messages after Jason Levin's Web page went public earlier this week. On it, Levin encouraged people to infiltrate the tea party movement to discredit the conservative activists.

The site, http://www.crashtheteaparty.org, now links to a different Web page that sells T-shirts in support of the movement. Levin didn't return calls and e-mails from The Associated Press seeking comment Thursday.
Beaverton School District spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler says Levin was placed on administrative leave Thursday. That's the same day tea party groups staged Tax Day protests around the country. lulz

Wait, when and where did he cut taxes? Is that just a flat-out lie?
About 40% of the stimulus bill was tax cuts.
