Default USA continues to plead for Canada's help. Please. Anything.
It's just payment for free riding on our defense forces for the last century

Here's hoping Harper sticks to his guns on this one.
Given the Obama admin's sucess rate at getting countries to do what they want, your chances are good he will stick to his guns.

You realize the reason so few are helping in Afghanistan & Iraq predates Obama, right?

Canada fought longer in real wars in the last century than the USA did.

It's a general statement.
I think my post implied it was a silly statement.

You are aware that we are still at war, Asher? And that like it or not, the Bamster is still our bestest ally ever?

Personally, I know this would never happen, but I'd love to see the Canadian forces stay and get it done even if the big O pulls everything out.

Yes, both countries have been really, really shitty places with incomprehensible politics and insular populations for a long time.

Re: Canada, I assume he would only take on the place after he had a solid supply of pure Nordic conscripts named Larsen from Minnesota. And slightly less pure crackers from other western/midwestern states.

On a serious note, the number of Canadians killed in Afghanistan is just way, way too high. The mission is a failure, it's time they just accept it and cut our losses.

What is it now, 160+ Canadians killed there?

My bad. Harper will cave then in the face of the charm offensive.
FWIW Obama is more popular in Canada than Harper is. And he's more popular in Canada than he is in America. I think his wishes carry more favour than you may know.

And Bush had single-digit approval ratings here last I heard.

That's still only about a fifth of your armed forces. If you really wuvved us, you'd go the whole mile.

Possible. He's also quite popular in Europe as well but hasn't been able to get any substantive increases in NATO troop commitments or freer ROE among the allies there. I don't see him being more sucessful with the Canadians.

Hey Ben, if you feel so strongly about the Afghan war and fighting Islamic extremism, why haven't you volunteered your fat ass? I'm sure you'd make a great decoy.
He blames his disability.

Another example of Canadians living down to my expectations. Ya'll are lucky enough to have a leader who isn't an economic retard, yet you prefer Obama...

Oh, and to state the obvious - Ben supports a continued Canadian presence. Think about that people.

Yep. That's the extent of your logic.

Having lost a hand in the wood chipper you'd dive right in.

Well sure, I did argue they shouldn't stick their hand in the woodchipper in the first place. You might want to blame Chretien for that...

I can tell you....but I can't make you listen.

The strongest support still remaining for the mission is in the conservative base. Harper would be the last of our federal leaders to withdraw for ideological reasons.
