To Ben's chagrin, the only time the hate speech law ever really gets used in practice is to smack down bigoted Christians preaching hate towards teh gays. It's also sometimes used in cases against douches like Mark Steyn who wrote incendiary islamophobic articles (which is bound to come up in this discussion from Ben -- but what he won't tell you is the charges against Steyn were dismissed).
