I think Kid would be better served by a liberal church, such as the liberal Lutheran (ELCA) and Episcopalian Churches that can be found in the US. Or go to a non-denominational church.

Or, use the "Belief-O-Matic"
I was gonna suggest ELCA, but I was being really entertained by some of these.

ELCA -- the Church for the lazy worshipper.

Still genuinely curious to know the story behind the religous conversion -- last I knew Kid was a Communist or a nihilist or something.
Jesus was lazy. He turned water into wine instead of putting effort into winemaking.

According to Upton Sinclair communists and socialists are (were) closer in intent to the original teachings of Jesus so he should go back to being a dirty lefty.

I was raised ELCA -- all I really remember is hearing "Grace by faith alone" and thinking -- "really? that's it? easy".
They're the counterpoint to Catholics who think you're in the hole from day one.

Grace by faith alone is a Protestant belief, so not just Lutherans .

Out of all the churches I've visited (not many, but some), I'd have to go with Sacre Coeur. Maybe I'd change my mind if I'd seen the Dome of the Rock or Angkor Watt, but so far this wins. In fact, it's probably better if you don't even go in, but just turn round and enjoy the view.

Ironically, I've been to loads of churches, cathedrals, temples and mosques all over the world...

I think mosques are particularly beautiful. In fact, the entire Islamic ritual of prayer, ablutions etc, is quite enchanting.

Still all make believe crap though.

Go to a Pagan Festival.

Bible camps won't let you dance naked around a bonfire.

Yeah, there are some heavyweights in the community, but there are some hotties as well.

And NM how other people look, dancing around bonfires is bloody fun.

I dunno... dem Episcopalians got it pretty easy too. A couple of rituals you're supposed to follow- but if not, don't sweat it.
That's why they're great.

I like Methodism in theory, but I don't know if I like this church. Bush is a Methodist! :anger:

Charismatics? Charismatics are awesome. I don't know why Elok doesn't like them very much.

Charismatics can be good. Much of it isn't.

There are a lot of not so good theology in those churches, like the aforementioned prosperity nonsense. They often have an unhealthy focus on performance, what you can and _must_ do for God to have his grace. Stuff like that.

Go with either the Catholics or the Orthodox. Preferably the Orthodox.

The Methodist Church is against prosperity preaching. I'm gonna stick with it for now.
