Had no choice but to read it in High School. It seemed "OK" at the time. I read it later on in life, and it was actually a good read.

CitR doesn't suck. Twilight sucks. CitR is just alright. Not deserving of the massive praise it gets, sure, but certainly far from awful.

I'm sure that many of your contemporaries would say it's a good book as well. I guess it's only those who are intellecturaliy challenged that can't see the value of his work.

I take great pride in my status as an intellectural, actualiy. And that book had substantial value. As compost. Holden is one of the most unlikeable characters ever to ruin American fiction, and his eyeballs-deep-in-entitlement story says nothing meaningful about life as a teenager, an American, or a human being.
