Cailifornia Looking Better. Hawaii can't afford Congressional election.

I don't see the problem here. The congressman should not resign, but instead miss all of his votes as he campaigns for governor.

"Federal money may be available to help Hawaii pay for a special election."

I think it's cool that Obama found this hidden never-ending stash of money.

We weren't generations in debt. It's not that hard to figure out.

Oh, really?

"Closing the current long-term fiscal gap based on reasonable assumptions would require real average annual economic growth in the double digit range every year for the next 75 years."
That's from the GAO in 2007. Bush's GAO.

It's cute how "conservatives" get all budget-minded when a Dem is in the White House, but didn't give two shits when a Repub was.
He kinda started making Bush look like a fiscal conservative weeks into his term.

Automobill 01-11-2010 04:33 AM

That we are relatively worse off doesn't change the fact that we were headed for a fiscal brick wall under Bush. "Conservatives" ignored it. Oh, we did, now did we?

I've always been against the Bush spending, his domestic spending which I thought was out of line.

Now that a Dem is in power, it's politically convenient to bring up the brick wall. Sure it may be a few feet closer, but its the same ****ing wall. It's gonna hurt when he it. Few feet? Let's get this straight.

Obama will have a larger deficit than the 8 years combined under Bush. It's not just a few feet closer, it's a whole different order of magnitude.

And it's gonna hurt more because Americans are too busy playing the partisan game of bullshit to realize we're getting ****ed in the ass by both parties. Well what are you doing about it? I don't see you complaining about Obama spending. It's his problem, he needs to own up to it and fix it.

We weren't put into generations of debt by Reagan, Bush I, or Bush 2? You do realize that accounts for about 9/10ths to 10/11ths of the national debt, right? Oh, who am I kidding? Of course you don't know that.

Munccoughe 01-11-2010 07:41 AM

Texas is having no problems. I suggest you rethink your position.

goatteatromiag 01-11-2010 08:53 PM

Conservatives want something for nothing. They want a balanced budget, but will **** and moan if there is any slightest increase in any kind of taxes to help balance the budget. Uh it's called
CUTTING SPENDING!

It's not 'something for nothing.' The only people who want something for nothing are liberals who constantly increase government spending and believe taxes are manna from heaven.

Cutting domestic spending while maintaining an obscene military budget that funds 700+ military bases in ~130 countries, and engaging in multiple concurrent war theaters - both overt and covert - not to mention billions in "foreign aid", is not a healthy balance, nor is is sustainable. Even if the above were true, and its not, all of that matters not a bit as the growth in the domestic budget over the last ten and next ten years makes the military budget look like peanuts. Try again.

I think he's talking about the "direct payment to individuals" part of govt spending.

It's not gays that I have a problem with, it's gays that act like you.
Drop your sexual frustrations, and don't bring it up in every single conversation.
What sexual frustration?

I don't bring it up in every conversation. But sometimes, I throw out a joke that has sexual connotations. Some straight posters on here do that too - give it a try. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

Oh, and learn to lighten up.

It's nice to say such things, but where was the Conservative revolt when President George W. Bush was expanding Medicare? That seemed to pass fairly easily. If you can find a quote where I favoured medicare expansion, be my guest.

I think medicare should be reformed, along with social security.
