My wife was due 2/19. Was, because it isn't going down like that anymore.

Despite the title I chose, I'm no longer all that freaked out. 34 weeks isn't all that bad nowadays, and Hartford Hospital is good at what they do.

Wish us luck. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

I was a "preemie" over 40 years ago and I turned out to be just as ****ed up as the rest of people. Things will work out. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

Congrats Arrian. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

Not what you would want, but yes the early care is quite good these days.

Good luck.

Jace was 36 weeks, and apart from all the problems that he's having (that aren't associate with the preemieness) he was fine, surprisingly no jaundice.

Congrats to you and the wife!http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

My last nephew came out a little late, with, uh, complications. Specifically, the placenta suddenly tore loose from the uterine wall, causing hemorrhaging. Luckily my SIL was at the hospital (she'd felt generally poor that day), or she would have almost certainly bled to death waiting for an ambulance. She's now fine, preparing to go in for a C-section at the end of the month for baby number two so they don't have a recurrence.

Sadly, modern medicine can do nothing to prevent people like my brother from naming their daughters "Reagan Mackenzie." http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/frownnod.gif

Apparrently this is so common in China that a friend of mine who was studying medicine at the time actually argued with me that pregnancy wasn't 9 months.

Pollution of the mind, pollution of the fallopians.

That's why I always have to laugh when I see those (where man loses all common sense during the frantic rush to the hospital). For us, my wife just said, "we can probably wait for halftime, there only a few more minutes left".

rah,

Love that story, btw. We will probably never know how/why her water broke. I like that you two at least had a plausible theory!

Apparently, with me, my parents were at the theatre. My mom was in labor (water not broken though). Contractions and whatnot. They stayed for the whole play. Eh, they paid for it right? They went home. They went to bed (wtf?). Then the water breaks. 2am they gotta find a cab in NYC to get them to the hospital. Which was apparently a bit of fun.

p.s. I promise, no Reagan McKenzies from us...
I told him that he'd be naming his kid after two separate eighties icons, one of whom was an apparently alcoholic bull terrier. He said eh, that was cool with him. The hell of it is, he's a neandercon, but his wife's Irish, so I'll never know if he's actually naming my niece after a crummy president.
