Default Differential equations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D:
hey guys i need some help with math. the problem is here:
http://books.google.com/books?id=51K...um=1&ct=result

number 14 to be exact.

so so far, i've written these equations out:

x1" = -50x1 + 10(x2 - x1) + 5cos(10t)
m2x2" = -10(x2 - x1)

now they're telling me that mass 2 is supposed to provide dynamic damping so as to keep mass 1 from oscillating. Im not entirely sure how to carry this out in my equations.

i know there are a bunch of math wizards out there. come help
