It's a big part of it, though.

Exactly. The proper response, is to make note of the house and return at a later time. The meter ain't going anywheres.

When I was a pizza delivery driver, we were not allowed to go anywhere else other then the front door, unless the delivery specified otherwise. We had a radio, and were supposed to check in every 10 minutes or so, for our own safety. Carrying a hundred dollars in cash in some rather rough neighbourhoods is not fun.
Pffft.. Oh Please. My right index finger has been in lots of places much more dangerous than any place you've ever been.

You're an 80 year old man and some punk you don't recognise just scaled your fence.
So instead of finding out who he is you would just start shooting?! You're incredible.

Which is why walking up with a bat isn't the best idea. Shoot him! THEN use the bat.

If you just ask questions first, you wouldn't need either.

That kind of assumption could kill you.
The other kind of attitude could kill someone else. While I really don't want to be killed, after I'm dead, I wouldn't be bothered by it. If I killed someone accidentally, it would bother me the rest of my life. Which isn't to say I wouldn't kill someone in order to defend myself or another human being, but I want to be sure.

When you put electricity in to your home, you consented to let the meter man come and read your meter during normal business hours. If you want to rescind the consent, go back to living in the 19th Century. Your Texan, you won't notice it much.

I want people not to shoot first and ask questions later. Is that so hard for you to understand? I know you're a Texan, but simple English shouldn't be beyond you.
