This might have been relevant if it had happened in 2008, if only to further weaken the conservatives ticket. The only way I see it being relevant is in Palin's hopelessly optimistic own presidential run in 2012. Possibly in the gubernatorials in 2010... maybe.
Either way, more proof, if any were needed, that she wasn't ready for prime time. You can imagine the furore that would have broken out if Obama's camp had something like this in the closet. |

Last year, I saw Sarah Palin's announcement that Bristol and Levi would wed "sometime next summer" on CNN while I was standing in a lounge full of foreign service officers. I immediately said, "I've got 5 bucks that says that wedding never happens -- I'm serious! Who wants in?" But no one took me up on it.
Stupid, farsighted foreign service officers. ![]() |

He indicated to the Alaska press that they were over before the nomination. He apparently wanted nothing to do with her. However, when future mother-in-law is running for the number 2 spot in the Republican world, you kowtow, modify your mullet, and buy a suit. Once the race was over, the couple reverted to their previous status. Not a surprise, and a very long way from news.
Unless funding sources are appearing in Juneau, Palin's not running in 2012 or ever again. |

Oh, horrors. A couple split up. Back in the closet! The fact that the marriage didn't happen further underlines the fact that Palin's family isn't a particularly good example of living the conservative credo. My point was more about a political candidate drawing fire when their families don't live up to their party's professed viewpoints. If Obama had some similar transgression in his family I believe the conservatives would have turned it into a political talking point very quickly. I suspect you knew all that anyway, though. |
