As the UK's No. 1 Alcohol Tester (Google advertised), can I beg you to reconsider, or at least donate your unused booze to me?

It's still a mystery to me...

George: Who am I going to tell? My mother? Like I've got nothing better to talk about.

Jerry: You don't. He's a recovering alcoholic.

George: Really?

Jerry: Yeah. He's been off the wagon for two years.

George: "Off the wagon"?

Jerry: I think it's off the wagon.

George: I think it's "on the wagon".

...

Elaine: No, no, no, this is just cranberry juice.

Jerry: Oh, uh, I think maybe Dick picked up yours.

Elaine: Dick? He can't drink. He's an alcoholic. I told you to hold it.

Jerry: I didn't know you meant *hold* it, I thought you meant hold it.

Elaine: One drink like that and he could fall right off the wagon.

George: Told you.

...

Jerry: I was in the men's room the other day and they had the hand blower, instead of the paper towels, you know this thing. I like the hand blower I have to say. It takes a little bit longer, but I feel when you're in a room with a revolting stench you want to spend as much time as you can.

Dick: The only stench is comming from you.

Audience: Oooooh.

Jerry: Oh, wait a second, I believe we have a heckler ladies and gentlemen. Hey Dick I don't know what your problem is. It's not my fault you're back on the wagon.

Dick: It's off the wagon.

Jerry: In the old days how do you think they got the alcohol from town to town?

Dick: I don't know.

Jerry: On the wagon. Don't you think they broke into a couple of those bottles along the way?

Dick: You can't drink on a wagon it would be too bumpy.

Jerry: They had smooth trails. What about the Cumberland Gap?

Dick: What the hell do you know about wagons?

Jerry: I know enough not to get on them.

...

Jerry: But in a way, I think I inadvertantly turned this guy into an alcoholic. I hate being around alcoholics because they're either telling you how much they love you or how much they hate you. And those are the two statements that scare me the most. But I think he's okay now because I have no idea how he feels about me. He's finally off the wagon.

Dick: You mean on the wagon.

Jerry: Don't get smart.

How tall are you? I am 180 lbs right now, and 5'11 (I gained 14 lbs in the last two months).

Probably the right weight for me at just reasonable BF % would be 160-170 lbs.

I don't drink much either. Just a couple drinks occasionally, a lot less often then once every 8 days. Had 7 at the apolyton meet but that was the most in a while. I think it is better to abstain actually, but a couple isn't a bad thing for me.

Since I both smoke and drink, I can say it. They're both crutches. A person needs to have has few crutches as possible.
Good luck to you.

Tell me an instance where they're not crutches; or is this just another attempt by someone to correct me?

Someone who drinks at work needs to be fired, or sent to a clinic.

Apolyton meet an no one invited me? . Taht's a pretty good weight. I'm 5'8" (or used to be in the navy- I may have shrank ). But I have a small body frame. 160 on me looks like alot, but on a stockier person with wider shoulders it would be perfect. I mainly want to get rid of my beer gut (really the only place on my body I have fat).

I like my cave. . I really have no where else to go. If I go somewhere, no one pays me any attention (see my fight thread for more on this). Granted going to a bar isn't the best place to go for friends. I could go to church, but church isn't my thing. It's incredibly boring.

Only place anyone talks to me is at work. Women at work seem to like me, I'll never understand why. When women in the real world act like I don't even exist. But I can't have women friends. I've been down that road, and it isn't pretty. I can't help but fall in love with them.

Where I used to work we always had a beer or 2 at lunch with a sandwich or burger and quite often more if we were with clients. I really don't see the problem as long as the work gets done.

I would go at .5-.7 multiplied by your weight in pounds

some suggestion 1-1.7 but I think that is pretty much ridiculous

and have had personal trainers and doctors agree with me

I'm not saying who is right or wrong but, this started out as a thread about being "on" or "off" the wagon.

I find it funny that

(and I have no way of knowing that my age assumption is true but intuitively it seems that)

the 15-30 year olds turned it into a discussion of the appropriate amount of (protein grams)/(body weight)

and the 40+ crowd discussed how much/when drinking is appropriate.

I don't see what body weight has to do with protein intake... seems to me that should only be relevant if you're talking muscle mass. Dis is fat mass, as he's said repeatedly

I am a vegetarian and can consume over 100g without too much work. Whey powder is nice though. You just have to know what are the foods with lots of protein in them.

Actually, eating protein rich foods is one of the main ways to put on muscle mass. Muscle mass is best to put on when you are 10-15% BF though (I am a bit over that and have been for a couple years , I use to be over 20% though).

Foods I eat:
Whey
Eggs
Nuts (& Peanut butter)
Protein fortified pasta/etc
Yogurt
Tofu
Beans

All of those are more then 20% protein. If you have a 2500 calorie diet (a good idea if you are working out 3 times a week) 100 grams is 400 calories of protein which is less than 20% of a 2500 calorie diet. So it actually isn't that bad as long as you don't eat a lot of protein-less calories.
