GM & Chrysler on the Brink -- Part 3
|
I'd be good with this, I think. Probably the most reasonable compromise for all parties.
|
It's better than the alternative.

The entire economy is waiting for either bailouts or rationalizations. It is causing a lot of hesitation. Also (my opinion), the natural result of mass intervention, mass transfers of taxpayer wealth the Goldman Sachs, CDO counterparties, etc. has caused a (rational) expectation of a large recession, which is making almost every company do major things to draw in their heads, stop growth, etc.

We could turn it into a game show. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif
Advertising dollars could go to fund the bailout. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif |

Hmm. I know nothing about economics, so here's a stupid suggestion. I gather from the little economic news I pay attention to that recessions follow this sequence: 1. News outlets spot some financial turmoil, speculate on possibility of recession 2. Everybody worries about losing out in said recessions and starts cutting back 3. Cutbacks exacerbate existing problems, deepening turmoil 4. News outlets report deepening turmoil 5. Repeat 1-4 until public is so sick of it that news about the troubles doesn't sell and they start reporting about dreck like people teaching squirrels to juggle 6. Slow, painful recovery In other words..."The only thing we have to fear...is Fear itself". |
Darn politicians... I say we vote that Bush guy out of office http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/mad.gif

Not that Obama wasn't going to do the same (or worse). http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/mad.gif

It would surprise me less if the Republicans did ('big business' party as they're supposed to be) ... but the 'party of the people' seems to want to ensure that the people get further screwed over by big business. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ons/icon13.gif |
BTW Republicans are the party of big business. They just feel that killing the union is more important since the union knows who its friends and enemies are.

The stereotypical conception of the two parties' identities are out of date. The Democrats are now the party of rich whites and minorities. The Republicans are the party of working-class whites.

It figures you would disagree. You're probably the stupidest person on Apolyton. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

Chill, both of you.

I said they're mulling it not that they did it.

English is your second language so I'll give you a pass. Other wise you might have noticed that Tata made an official request to Parliament and that several MPs were quoted responding in the article.
