Thinking about giving up meat

veggie meat?

lomonel 12-02-2008 10:08 PM

I got a bad case of food poising from a salad wrap with no meat in it. You can easily get food poisoning from veggies and fruits.

sallythetolly 12-02-2008 10:19 PM

I've been lucky enough to never have gotten food poisoning which is bizarre given how I'll eat food from street vendors and other high risk places other people avoid.

TCjwwhcY 12-02-2008 10:26 PM

I've been making deer jerky. Friends have been killing them around here left and right. I love jerky, and how it makes my basement smell when I'm making it.

DoterForeva 12-02-2008 10:38 PM

I don't need to hunt. These guys are getting so much meat they just give it to me.

I'm going to hunt Asher and make stupid burgers.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif

Well, this thread quickly descended into being one of the most revolting ever.

epPtsDno 12-02-2008 11:18 PM

Ewww....this thread has degraded to the point that I am almost sold on becoming a vegetarian.

Hmm...I wonder if I can survive as a vegetarian without eating tofu? I find tofu to be incredibly nasty tasting.

invest7manager 12-02-2008 11:35 PM

Dis, I know you're hurting in this economy, but have you considered moving from grade F meat to E or above? Also, I understand cooking helps.

domeffire 12-02-2008 11:59 PM

I don't think avoiding meat will give you better chances of avoiding food poisoning.

I've never gotten a food poisoning, but you can get it from any other thing just as easily. I guess it's weird, I eat all kinds of stuff, from the street with my hands even abroad in weird smelly places. I don't care. It tastes good. Just eat it. Wash your hands.

Don't do what Pekka does in Mexico. Or drink non-bottled water there either. Otherwise, you will get food poisoning and may get any number of illnesses and worms. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/nono.gif http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/nono.gif

I was a vegetarian for 12 years, I quit last christmas. I wasn't a particulary healthy vegetarian, too much fat and carbs. Eventually I got tired of all the beans, tofu and quorn, now I gorge myself in meat http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/yumyum.gif

I haven't stole any of this years hunt yet, though hopefully will when I'm back home over christmas. I do have some moose steak in the freezer that I'll have to pull out soon now that I've thought about it.

I could never go through with giving up meat, its just way too good. We had some tenderloin (backstrap) with potatoes and whole kernel corn and gravy tonight

Awesome, Venisonhttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

Still, as a vegetarian, I don't eat it very often. I eat a lot of carbs, lots and lots actually. Lots of dairy products (cheese in particular)too. And beans are what you need: some have up to 25% protein iirc.

Giving up meat isn't so hard. Well, not for me anyway. I doubt you've ever had some really good meat in Belgium. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
