no we stopped with the time and energy a while ago. its all 1 liners now http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

Even if the poster you're specifically arguing with doesn't change your mind, researching an issue you are discussing often leads to running into new information, and can lead to changing your own ideas.

As for me, I've learned a lot about viewpoints from other parts of the world here (and various other places online), that I really had no chance of being exposed to otherwise. Learned a lot about various issues that some of the posters here are experts on, or from researching my responses in arguments. It's a decent news source (and by source I mean more like a river source... subjects are presented and you can look it up or skip it from there. Sure beats watching the news). Lots of laughs, intentional or otherwise. Plus, it's fun to argue sometimes. Cathartic even.

This is a lefty zoo. You hardly find them here in the wild, but on Apolyton, it's a haven.

I enjoy throwing peanuts!

So you've stopped shifting to the left? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cute.gif

I didn't read the OP. Still, I disagree.

22CreessGah 10-09-2008 05:33 AM

Uhhh, what? I'd say left and right are fairly equally represented here, and also those who are left on some issues and right on others, and still other posters are just down the middle, and still others are insane. But I'd hardly say this is a haven for leftist thinking. There are more people then animals at every zoo I've ever been to.

I think we all need to calm down, relax, count to 10 and take a deep breath.

No reason, that's just what I think.

I count a lot of the people at a zoo as animals. Technically, all of them are.

Why would you, a person who hasn't been here in years, come here and discuss politics? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/bored.gif Kick rocks.

Still it's fun to discuss current topics, and it can be funny to read what BenK posts sometimes.

Issues like abortion, religion, etc... I hardly even open those threads anymore. Contradictory statements.

How can you read BK's posts if you don't read threads about religion, abortion? Some of his best bits are in those threads.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif ACK!

Threads titled, "How come walruses lose bukits?" that result in BenK arguing that if all gay people renounce their heathen ways and marry and **** a 16 yr old girl God will love them forever and every walrus will git a bukit from Jesus I get suckered into.

There is no left wing here besides me. I am the only left wing person. Everyone took the political compass test some time ago and everyone was an authoritarian fascist compared to me.

So you're all Hitlers as far as I am concerned. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

My political compass scores were:

Left/Right -10 (max left)
Authoritarian/Anti-authoritarian -9.5 (nearly maxed out as anti-authoritarian)

Most Poly liberals scored above -4 on both scales.

Most Poly liberals scored above -4 on both scales. The funny thing is me and Imran score exactly the same on that test, I'm usually +5 econ, -2 authoritarian.

Prior to Poly I was about -3, -2 on econ. I blame folks like DanS and Adam Smith for convincing me of the efficacy of trickle-down economics and the merits of eschewing market intervention. I blame Shi Huangdi for convincing me I'd be happier in the Catholic church. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif
