Pre-vegeta storyline battling piccolo.

Horrible idea IMO. Should have done it on the vegeta/goku fight. Nobody cares about piccolo, and Vegeta is too awesome to leave out. They've screwed themselves. They could have made millions with the single line "ITS OVER 9000!!!!!!". That alone would have ensured topping the box offices.


Movie is clearly fail as can be seen in the trailer. Anyone who know anything about DB will be disgusted. It could make a decent hollywood martial arts action movie, but about the only thing it shares in common with DB is character names.

It's looks as it's set back in the days of the original Dragonball when Goku was younger and long before Vegeta was even heard of. Piccolo was evil and the child of the Evil Lord Piccolo you can watch the episode in which Goku kills Lord Piccolo and gives birth to Piccolo here

From the trailer it seems a little off as Goku defeats Piccolo in the Martial Arts Championships in the final rounds and you can see that episode here. Goku and Piccolo are much older (in their teens) so I guess the movie takes place around that time. It's also the episode where Goku and Chichi become partners.

As for Bulma not fighting she did in an episode or two but wasn't really a fighter. And for Mai, I can't remember correctly but I think she is the one that used to live with Roshi, she had a physical split personality, one a nice gentle side and the other a crazed old women that shoots everything she sees.

Would be pretty hard to find characters to match the muscularity and hair style of the actual DB(z-GT) characters

I always thought that Dragonball is not much of a two thumbs up when it comes to its graphics. But still the flow of the story is worth than its animation.

Exactly, Krillin is one of Gokus 1st friends (I think Bulma was his 1st friend, then Roshi then Krillin) and is his best friend throughout the series leaving him out is a HUGE mistake[thumbdown]

I think the only people who could even remotely bring a live action dragonball movie to the big screen would be the wachowski brothers. Speed Racer turned out well, they've proven they can do flying fight scenes with Matrix Revolutions as well.

I wouldn't be upset if the characters weren't as over the top physically as they were in the anime/manga.

Speed racer was the ******* child that should never have been born.

The movie itself has potential as a random movie not related to any sort of childhood series. As a movie about the speed racer series its a steaming pile of dog excrement.

That being said its probably one of the first blu-ray movies I'll watch when I get my new home theater equipment. :P

And dragonball would have a better story? I wasn't expecting a good story with Speed Racer, I was expecting a visual mind trip, and well, I pretty much got that. The movie didn't take itself seriously and I watched it several times, I enjoyed all of the little visual bits in the movie. I also think they wove the flashbacks into the movie very well.

It was the first blue-ray movie I got, and I wasn't dissapointed.

As far as Speed Racer, a Speed Racer movie thats 100% true to the series can't be done, and make money on the big screen. Too few people would be interested in seeing it.
