Am I the only Al Bundy sucker ?

Have you ever seen "Dutch"? He was actually very good in that movie.

Peg! Peg!! I'm blind! I'm blind!
I saw your mother naked, and everything went black!
I think my eyes were trying to save my heart!!

Why do American series always have the door on the right?

I'd hit that. I feel the obligation to utter it.

Never really liked it. There are no likable characters.

How could you not like Al Bundy????? He was a very likeable character http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif For me, I don't find him to be a redeemable character -- too flawed and proud of it.

Married with Children was great. The dysfunctional Bundys were the anti-Huxtables, the too-perfect family of the Cosby Show. The early years were outrageously funny. While the show declined in later years, it still lasted 11 seasons, a very long run.

Who's that riding into the sun?
Who's the man with the itchy gun?
Who's the man who kills for fun?
Psycho Dad. Psycho Dad. Psycho Dad!

Quick with the gun, but he loves his son.
Killed his wife 'cause she weighed a ton.
Psycho Dad!

I loved when Al came down stairs, half asleep, caught Kelly and her "boyfriend for the night" kissing, he about took the kids face off walking him through the door..http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/lol.gif

I liked the show. I thought the first season was the best, when the family were all losers, but they weren't caricatures of themselves yet.

amagmasia 08-05-2008 08:13 PM

Apparently "laughable" = "likeable" for some.

I should clarify my statement:
There was no sympathetic character on the show, i.e., no one I cared about.

And for me, don't care = don't bother watching.

I'm surprised Europeans even heard about the show. As a matter of fact, the European posters' frequently surprise me with their knowledge of American things.

As a matter of fact, the American posters' frequently surprise me with their lack of knowledge of European things. In fact, that doesn't surprise me at all. Americans are extremely self-centered.

"Sam's Bar"? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/lol.gif I presume that would be "Cheers."
