During the prayer certainly http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cute.gif |
He's an idiot. Had he stopped to think for even a second he would have seen the ire coming from miles away. That doesn't make what happened to him right of course, but he could have avoided becoming a potential martyr if he had just shut up until he got home. Remember, he is a disgruntled party from something totally unrelated. I would not be suprised if this whole thing is just another attempt by an indivdual to deflect his own failures (not doing well enough on his advancement exam to get promoted) on yet another vast conspiracy.

God help anyone if they fail an advancement exam as a footsoldier.

Two years ago on Thanksgiving Day, after refusing to pray at his table, Hall said he was told to go sit somewhere else. In another incident, when he was nearly killed during an attack on his Humvee, he said another soldier asked him, "Do you believe in Jesus now?" ZOMFGG! Discrimination!!!1!1!!1!
I've had worse things said to me today. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif Asher said he doesn't want to play with me anymore. I'm so choked up. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif |
The first example is discrimination - like a textbook example of it. The second example is just annoying but would probably get more annoying with repetition - especially in life or death situations. Having a prayer, and one fellow not wanting to do it and being told to sit elsewhere?
Sounds like highschool to me. I was discriminated against constantly, because no one wanted to play with me. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif Where can I sue? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../eageranim.gif |

Having a prayer, and one fellow not wanting to do it and being told to sit elsewhere? Or, like, on a bus, having a person with a different skin colour and being told to sit elsewhere? You're right, that's not discrimination http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/happyno.gif |
I think a distinction needs to be made there between 'told' and 'told by somebody outranking him'.
|
The article doesn't specify whether the other peopleat the table people knew he was an Atheist before he refused to pray. If they already knew he was an Atheist, then it is not discrimination, since they were fine with him sitting there while knowing he was Atheist. If they didn't know know he was an Atheist before, then it is discrimination.

At 1st I thought this was a joke aimed at BK. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/neeschud.gif

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...smilies/hm.gif It will be interesting as to what the military's response will be since they (the military) have a deadline to respond to the allegations by midnight tonight...

Hardly. You assume that it was some sort of official prayer (which would be highly unlikely) instead of just the people at that table. Yeah, because there is never any crazy stuff like a prayer every damn night on the 1MC. Yessir, an official prayer in the military is the INCREDIBLY unlikely! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/rolleyes.gif (Actually, the first Chaplain I had on the ship was pretty good at evening prayers. Like; "Oh God, I am so tired of nothing but Mountain Dew in the soda machines...can we have somethign else? Like Snapple?" He was a popular guy) |
And the chaplain's name was Fred Phelps?
But one cannot draw conclusions of an entire army based on few fundies. |
Says the one that's likely 4F or undesireable, and may or not be able to pass an Air Force entrance exam.
We'll never know, will we? Easy to talk trash under those circumstances. |
The Chaplain. His name was Kligginschmidt or something like that. Even made the news.
