Best and Worst of Discworld

Best; Don't make me choose, damnit http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/doitnow.gif Probably a Vimes book, as they are the most interesting for comparing between worlds and Vimes is the most cynical bastard ever written http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

Worst: Eric; I don;t like the Rincewind books, but that one just doesn,t interest me. It's funny, sure, but not that interesting.

Welll, not sure if it's fair to count those, but those Macfneegle-whatwerethey aren't really that good.

I liked the one where Vimes' scheduler schedules him to die, die, die....

Small Gods is the best but it was long ago that I read them so I can't remember the worst.

Strange. IMHO Eric, Reaperman and Mort were the weakest.

[The very worst is the children's book "Is That My Cow?" It is awful! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ons/icon13.gif]

Thief of Time, Interesting Times and Night Watch are the best...oh yeah and the first two Tiffany Acking triology: Wee Free Men and Hat Full of Sky.

Hurm, I don't know that I've been really disappointed by any Discworld book.

In addition to other likes mentioned above, I'll add Soul Music, Moving Pictures, and I can't believe no one listed Hogfather.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/nono.gif Strata is NOT a Discworld novel...at least according to Wikipedia.

...on the other hand, while poking around the Internet, I just discovered that The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents is a Discworld novel. So there's one I haven't read yet! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/bounce.gif

I haven't read all of them and it's been awhile since I did. Didn't they all have the same basic plot pattern though?

Interesting Times wasn't funny; just lazy transcribing of stereotypes.

My first read was "Pyramids" and I still like it.

But at about that time I also discovered Douglas Adams, and he's much more to my taste.
