So, let's discuss human nature and anonymity/teh interwebs.
Usually darn near every day I'm reminded that someone somewhere sits down in front of a keyboard and somehow lose all sense decency and any shred of intellect. Can anyone tell me why this is? Kindness doesn't seem to be a common trait when a person find that they are anonymous, so that makes me wonder... Are humans beings naturally destructive and inherently evil? Are children naturally violent? They scream, cry, and hit when they don't get their way. You take their ball and they punch you. Does the internet offer an outlet for an adult's childishness that they've locked away for fear of being humiliated in a face to face environment or even locked behind bars? So, do we really mature as we grow up, or do we just hide our childishness and put up a false front? Many people act differently when they've anonymous. They'll say and do things they would never do out in the real world. Is everyday life just a giant masquerade? Seems to me that when people think nobody is paying attention or has no idea who they are they'll sneak in a little evilness and mischief. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Area codes. Different zip code. Etc. People seem to be more than willing to do things they wouldn't normally do when nobody knows who they are. |

Anonymity just means you don't have to pay for the consequences of your actions. If there are no consequences then what the hell is stopping people from doing something they normally wouldn't do in front of people? Morals should definitely be there even when no one is watching, but there seems to be a lack of morals in this day and age.
It was great to click a link and find a [expletive] on my screen at work [cursing]. I'm hoping the person who posted that had their account comprised and it was not actually him. |

The kids part: Attention. It's our natural defensive system to alert our parents constantly where we are.
The internet is just the wrong medium to do that (a kid however can't tell the difference) Other than that: I don't know. I'm guessing at least 20% is "underaged" here, some people tend to forget that. But not realizing it before pulling a prank like this? That's just immature. |

It's a maturity thing. It's hard being mature all the time if you're weak willed.. oh snap.
Anyway, I kinda compare this with cars as well. Guys with fast cars know they're fast and don't really show off, then there's people with slow loud cars.. pretending they're fast. Same as internet.. if you can get away with it .. why not? I'm a member of a local car club. I've seen many people in person at meets and all that stuff, everyone's is so nice and polite. Soon as they start posting, they're all tough guys.. That's my favorite part. If people can get away with anything, they'll do it. Seriously though, what happened in the first place? |

In my opinion 90% of social interaction is deception and lies. You say "hey, nice to meet you!" to the new guy at the office when you're thinking "Who the **** are you and why should I care?"
You tell that customer "Have a nice day, thankyou for your purchase!" when you really want to tell them to bugger off and never come back. Let's not even get started on the whole friends and lovers social interaction. Humans are animals with a thin layer of social structure. Look at any disaster and the internet and you see just how quickly we revert to base instincts. |

Would I be in the wrong to ask what happened? You tell that customer "Have a nice day, thankyou for your purchase!" when you really want to tell them to bugger off and never come back. |
