Default What do girls look for in a man.
I think having a pulse is at least a minimal qualification.

The ability to drink large amounts of alcohol, a good knowledge of team sports and a healthy interest in porn.

psychologically (and since this is not really possible, than they want you to at least acknowledge/work with their requirements)...

actually it is the the same as any other relationship, it is only that this one is the most close/intensive one for obvious reasons... living together, having children... thing called love which actually needs to be nurtured as years pass etc...

Good at Civ?

(this can't technically be true as I first 'met' my girlfriend here and there are much better civ players here...)

It had to be said, didn't it?

If you want to really know, then I'd recommend the book, "The Mating Mind", by Geoffrey Miller. If you want to have the background to understand that, then read Dawkins' "The Selfish Gene" before that.

And, of course, the good old Player Guide.

Well there's a lot of different girls and things they look for. One thing that is important for a lot of girls for a long-term relationship is the ability to take care (support financially, emotionally and protection) of self and her (doesn't necesssarily mean that she'll want you taking care of her, just to be able to) and any kids she may want in the future.

I don't think that it's right to say that all women want X or Y. Different women probably, in fact almost certainly, want different things.

I certainly don't think that any one man can claim to know the answer, largely because there is no single, right answer.

However, those of us who have lasting and good relationships can reasonably claim to be in possession of what it is that our partners are after. Having just clocked eleven years in my relationship I can confidently assume that I have what my woman wants.

I agree that women are looking for men who can provide for them and their offspring. In one word "security".

Because you probably make her feel safe and, as a +, you make her happy at the same time.

Or rather, what the woman is programmed to think of as indicative of genetic advantage, from the context of a 20 to 50 member tribe.

. How silly. Any anthropologist worth his salt would tell you you need to check your facts before posting.

Human ancestors might have chosen mates for security from predators, but if you think humans pick mates primarily for physical protection, you're just being silly. All sorts of social structures complicate your pat theory.
