OTOH most christians dont give the name "jesus" to kids. Obligatory non-PC joke "how do we know Jesus was Puerto Rican?" "he was named Jesus" Obligatory Jewish joke to offset the above "how do we know Jesus was Jewish?" "His mother thought he was god, he thought his mother was a virgin, and he went into his father's business" |

Son-In-Law
Mr. Shwartz goes to meet his new son-in-law to be, Sol. He says to Sol (who is very religious), "So nu, tell me Sol my boy what do you do? "I study the Torah," he replies. "But Sol, you are going to marry my daughter, how are you going to feed and house her?" "No problem," says Sol, "I study Torah and it says G-d will provide." "But you will have children, how will you educate them?" asks Mr. Shwartz. "No problem," says Sol, "I study Torah and it says G-d will provide." Mr. Shwartz goes home and Mrs. Shwartz, his wife, anxiously asks what Sol is like. "Well," says Mr. Shwartz, "he's a lovely boy, I only just met him and he already thinks I'm G-d." |

Actually, while technically a Catholic, not considered a card carrying member. I only go to church for weddings and funerals. Not up to date or a big fan of most of the current dogma.
But I do seem to lean towards anti-islamic due to it's intolerance. Much worse than anything I experienced as a Catholic. Yes, its a generalization and I do know a few people that don't fit the stereotype so I have to constantly review my thoughts on it. |

Jews don't give the name "Y----" to kids, a lot of jewish kids are called "Moses", no offense there. What would folks think if someone name a baby bear "Moses"? Id worry the kid is gonna try to split his bathwater, and will get the bear drenched ![]() Ok, so its like 1992. Well it IS 1992. Someone gives this really tiny bear as a gift to new born POTM (it has like no swallowable parts, its ok) . Now in Hebrew, al means no, not. Al T'daber means roughly "do not speak" Something QOTM and I whispered to each other when trying to get the other to be more discrete about something, in front of non-Hebrew speakers. So naturally we name the bear, Al t'daber/Al Teddy Bear. Also named after Al Gore. Al Gore/ Al Bear. Al Teddy Bear. Al t'daber. Now Gore gave a rousing speech to the 1992 Dem convention saying (wrt Bush/Quayle) in a repeated refrain "It's time for them to go!" So when we were running late leaving the house, Al T'daber would say "It's time for them to go!" |

And I do know a few people that don't fit the stereotype so I have to constantly review my thoughts on it. Roughly what % of the muslims you have actually met or know personally fit into your stereotyped view?
Anyway, the crux of the problem is why some stupid do-gooder (I bet she’s a Christian missionary type) thought that it would be a good idea to go to Sudan of all places… ![]() In fact, I bet most of our international crises would be avoided if stupid people knew better and refrained from visiting such places as the Sudan or Afghanistan (those moronic South Korean Christian missionaries one massive example!) etc… Go to some other place where people can't read or whatever with a beach – better still, stay in our country because our govt has ****ed our education system up so much that at least a third of our children leave school without being able to read properly! If she’s looking for danger, I’m sure Liverpool is at least as dangerous as Khartoum and at least we wouldn’t have an international incident! |
