Why did you bomb our chippy's?

LOL, sorry only joking (and probably not very funny, sorry)

Me and the wife are coming over in December for the Christmas markets, question is which are the best to go to? Ideally somewhere thats not a massive city and with a great chance of snow, also plenty of nice little pubs serving Germanys finest beer and sausages etc. I've looked at a few websites and Goslar looks like a really nice place that has retained its historical roots, Heidelberg looks nice too. We were meant to come over to Dusseldorf last year but work commitments ended that plan, so this year we want to make a proper visit.
