And remember, if there are lots of people round and someone has to go and urinate, wait just long enough for them to get started then get everyone to shout "GOAL!!!" And watch them come running back to see the replay.

The monkey in the suit with his butt on the copier machine got a laugh out of me. Good casting on the guy. He always had the right facial expresion. And I'm sure that was a long one to shoot.

Coke didn't want to spend the kind of money needed to outbid Pepsi for the advertising time

Thank god. That's the worst thing about US football. I think I'd enjoy it if they just had breaks after each quarter or whatever.

When they have live games here (even on Sky) more than half the times the US footage cuts for ad breaks they cut to the studio for a bit more analysis instead. It's unbelievable how many ads you get.

You can't sell beer on Sundays?! Awful.

Not in Georgia. At least not in a non-restaurant.

Oh, and perhaps the best commerical in terms of getting brand name out was the P.Diddy Pepsi commerical or the various Bud commericals. The funniest ones also tended to be from companies that most people will not remember.

Another main problem is this idiotic Christian law that they can't sell beer on Sundays. Since I usually go to the grocery store on Sundays, that usually ends up sucking. I need to start going on another day. I have one pub can of Guinness left and then I'm tapped out.

I got no more beer left for England v. Netherlands! It's a sad state of affairs!

I didnt see more than a quarter of the game but I saw maybe half of the commercials. Of those the robbery one was the best (I didnt see the spagetti sauce one).

England Netherlands will probably suck, for England at least. We've got no fit defenders.

With Robben and Van Nistelroij injured and Kluivert not playing well/injured I think Holland might be struggling to get forwards too... how fit is Hasselbaink?

That's what the woman's for!

Don't have woman. And besides, there are two types of women: those who know crap about the sport and are thus annoying to have around during game; and those that know a ton about the sport and don't want to miss part of the game either.

Have enough supplies ready for the half!

Fridge is not within sit-on-coach-and-open distance. Cold beer is required!

Though considering this thread was started by Ming, is it harmless off-topic fun or is this market research?

Am I the only euro-com who finds this tradition rather... odd? World Cup Footie is always on the BBC here. No ads.
