Church supplies companies

Dear friends,

Without requesting to, I somehow ended up on the mailing list of this company last year. I know of some other church supply companies but wonder whether anybody has any experience of this one. They seem to have a respectable range of things. Is the delivery time reasonable and does anybody know anything about who runs it?

Many thanks.

This is the internet presence of a little bookstore/chapel in San Francisco. They began as a mission in a splinter jurisdiction, but have since been joined to one of the major Churches - I think either the OCA or the Serbs (don't know for sure).

Forgive me, Father David, you must be thinking of the Archangel Bookstore in San Francisco. This Archangel Church Supply place mentioned above, is in Pennsylvania, according to their contact information. It does appear to be a brand new venture. (Their Terms of Use page doesn't exist yet.)

I would be a little cautious, actually. Their return policy is troubling: In case the customer is not satisfied with the product for any reason, we will accept a return for in-house credit or exchange the product if it is in sellable condition. We do, however, charge a restocking fee of 10%. The returns must be made within 30 days.

All returns must be approved by our customer service department and must carry Return Authorization Number (RMA) visible on the package. All returns received without RMA number will be refused at delivery by our service center.

So if you are unhappy with a product, you can't get your money back. You get a credit or exchange, minus the 10% re-stocking fee. And they determine whether a returned item is "sellable." That is a tactic used by big box stores.

I personally would stick with an established company that has a good track record, and a more equitable return policy. And I like to know who I'm dealing with. They don't tell you, on this site. Just because they carry Orthodox goods doesn't mean they are Orthodox. I would not use a company that hides their owners.
