Are they serious? That is ****ing pathetic. Thanks for buying our £350 software, if you need to uninstall it you'll need to write your own script as frankly, we can't be arsed helping you out.

Or you could manually delete those folders. It's not like you need to delve into the registry or anything, and deleting those folders probably takes less time that using the uninstaller. [rtfm]

I know, my point is that it's a completely half-arsed job by Microsoft not to include an actual uninstaller.

If you put a bit of thought into it you might be quite funny. Office (which is the problem) is made by Microsoft, not Apple.

I would think he referred to the age old rivalry between M$ and Apple...

...i.e. don't expect M$ to make their products work on an Apple box

Why would you want Microsofts software on a mac anyway, surely there are better alternatives for macs, otherwise whats the point in buying one

Microsoft office is still the standard for office productivity.

That's just good business. And yes, any job that leaves loose ends is half-arsed if you actually give a toss about QC and have a sense of pride in your work.

Office for Mac is awful.

But, the biggest joke on Mac OS is iDVD. That is the most obtuse and complicated piece of **** program I have ever used.

Try to add two videos to a DVD without scenes using the default UI. Took me over an hour before my battery died since that garbageware uses 100% resources while it is open.

Oh, **** iTunes and iPhoto too.

Oh and Finder is abysmal. WHY CAN'T I MOVE FILES FROM CERTAIN LOCATIONS? ONLY COPY!!!! You ****ing baristas!

I can't wait to delete this OS once I get out of business school.

It makes a DENY sound when you try that... cut is not even in the ****ing right-click menu.

Hold the command key when dragging and dropping.

You mean full screen apps? That was 8 months ago. I have been using PCs my whole life and I think the last time I maximized anything was in Windows 95 when I had a 1024x768 monitor.

I can't remember the last time I browsed the internet in an unmaximized window.
Just because you don't, doesn't mean it isn't a feature 99% of the population would use.

Okay. I am just saying it has been a very long time since I personally had, no judgement on others.

Anyway, you have been able to expand then minimize, restore, etc on OS X for many years now, then the OS would remember the window position, size, etc.

I've found that no maximise button actually helps productivity. In windows I used to be lazy and click maximise on a window and then have to flick between. On OSX I have loads of windows on screen at once (albeit helped by a 2560x1440 resolution).

Office for Mac is awful.
Office 2011 is far, far, far better than the ones before (still not quite as good as the Windows version though).

Oh and Finder is abysmal. WHY CAN'T I MOVE FILES FROM CERTAIN LOCATIONS? ONLY COPY!!!! You ****ing baristas!
Finder really is a piece of crap. It's the place where it is most obvious that OSX was designed purely around Jobs' requirements, with no regard for any functionality anyone else might find useful.

Overall I prefer OSX to Windows, but both have some annoyances.

It's a feature people use for convenience, but browsing a website at 1920x1020 is not making the best use of your screen space.

He means that there has never been a butto to click that makes the window size fill the entire desktop without going chrome-less.

There is a + button on OSX but its behaviour is seemingly random from what I can tell.

Why does OSX always give me a miniature box when I "choose file"? I stretch it each time, and each time after I'm given a crappy little window.

If you expand your web browser to fill the screen, the OS will remember that. It will remember where on the desktop it was and the size of the window, which is handy at 2560x1600.

Each time you open your browser, it will fill the desktop, then you can minimize, restore, etc.

Not necessarily, depends on what and how you use it. I use 3 screens and maximise eclipse (which has several sub-windows that you all want to use) for example on the center screen.
