Forgive my ignorance but why is what she said upsetting?
If you want more money you SHOULD work harder. Also it is the socialist/collectivist govt that makes people poor ( or nearly impossible to climb out of) The richest people I know work the hardest/longest/most hours and have the most responsibility. The poorest people I know work part time and have zero responsibility. And the middle class folks I know have one or the other, they work hard but don't have much responsibility (oil and gas drilling/coal mining) or they have a lot of responsibility but don't have the hardest jobs around (IT folks/ middle managers) |

Gina's father Lang worked hard in a harsh environment, and as his only child she followed his footsteps. The opportunity for wealth from the mineral resources of Western Australia provided the basis... but both dedicated their life to expanding their resources. Name calling and insults re her weight is hardly appropriate nor relevant.

Good one Gina
![]() The world's richest woman, Australian mining tycoon Gina Rinehart: “If you're jealous of those with more money, don't just sit there and complain. Do something to make more money yourself - spend less time drinking or smoking and socialising, and more time working. “Become one of those people who work hard, invest and build, and at the same time create employment and opportunities for others.” |

Meh. This is the old liberalism vs conservatism debate, and what's right goes back and forth between the two in cycles. One side says work harder and you'll be better off. This is true. The other side says maybe there's some importance to quality of life instead of just putting your nose to the grindstone your entire life. Also true.
I don't accept blanket statements on either side. We've all seen situations where one or the other is right, and other times where it's wrong. |
