Strong 7.9 quake hits Costa Rica, tsunami warning issued


(Reuters) - A strong 7.9 earthquake rocked Costa Rica on Wednesday, rattling buildings and cutting power in some areas of the capital of San Jose, a Reuters correspondent and the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit close to Samara, a coastal area on the Pacific some 151 kms (94 miles) from the capital city.

A Caribbean-wide tsunami watch is in effect, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

Alright here, was a long 45 seconds though. When they hit the beach they ain't so bad up here in the mountains, though it was probably the longest & forceful I've ever felt. The one a few years back was a shaker, this one was a heavy roller... Gonzo's here in Costa Rica, I had thunk he was pick'n with my homies in Kentucky?

They had a hospital's walls fall of on a couple rooms down by the beach, is all. I'm in a 4 story apt. was thinking of slinging myself out on the power lines out front if it went down. No aftershocks yet.

Most the time I'm posting in just my underwear here, but would be hate to be caught in just a hospital gown on the street...

glad to read that you are alive and kicking Gonzo and Horn.... while central america is interesting and appealing, my travel companion and I could go even souther as we are fearing some HAARP induced earth changes affecting the region.
