Its my 1 "sporting event" of the year that I attend (though that might change next year if I get a chance to go to one of the 2 GP's in the US next year)
We really need to schedule a GSUS meetup in Austin or NJ next year.

"Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1-1/2 gallons of nitro methane per second"

Crazy....it takes about that amount of time to dump 1.5 gals from a bucket.

Nothing better than the smell of race gas in the morning! Ok, there are a lot of things. But still awesome!

Seeing modern Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny cars in person is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It is one of those things that I can sit here for an hour but I could never describe it. You just have to be there and experience it, they are so loud that it's hard for my eyes to even focus on them because it vibrates your entire body. If you get a chance to go see NHRA, do it. Watching them on TV is absolutely nothing like getting the whole experience.

Here is the fuel pump for one cylinder, at idle then half way through WOT. 1 of 8 in a car.
Agreed! I used to go out to Pomona for the Winternationals... very cool going into the pits in the early morning to watch the crews set up shop, and fire those things up for final adjustments. Now that I think about it, standing there under a shower of unburned nitromethane mist may not have been the healthiest thing to do...

Standing near the starting line while two top fuelies are launching will almost knock off your feet. Loudest event in the world.

My God, man.

If he were going any quicker thru 3rd gear his car would have lifted off the ground...
