We drank water from the garden hosepipe and NOT from a bottle. Hosepipes are so honky-tonk, a relic from a bygone era.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. Of course not, but didn't you guys get mono a lot more often?

We ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because.... I have no idea what "pop" is, but good for you.

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!! That would be one explanation for the higher rates of melanoma amongst your kind.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And no one would realize you were missing until the next day, when you didn't get home.

And we were O.K. So are we.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We will spend hours trying to figure out what's wrong with the computer, only to find out you people decided to download some crappy attachment. After a few times dealing with the digital mess, we told you to never download anything again.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no text messaging, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and looked for and found them! We have friends that we meet online, from all over the world, and sometimes we go out and meet them. Besides, for the real friends we have and know from the real world, now we've got all sorts of ways to keep in touch that you never had, now we've got all sorts of ways of meeting new people that you never had, and ****, even shy people these days can start having many more friendships than in your backwards time.

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from t hese accidents . No, but now you're suing on the behalf of your children who do this, you greedy ****s.

We played with worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. You're pround of having contracted parasites?

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out any eyes. It's very hard to poke out eyes with a keyboard, so we've got no risk there. That's like saying you were playing with a grenade and never got blown up. Good for you, but.

We rode our bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or we just yelled for them! Yeah, that's a bit rude. Now we IM, call, and email first.

Local sports teams had “tryouts” and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! /defriends j00

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! Which explains why you're all cowards, going along with the Patriot Act, and responsible for idiocy in lawmaking, stupid lawsuits, and so on.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. True, but very few of you know how to actually apply them and run with them.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO
DEAL WITH IT ALL! And yet, you stand here, wringing your hands over how the world's become, scared of your own shadow and everything you've done in the world. Instead of taking responsibility, you decide to sue everyone else, blame concepts and ideas such as "terror", "video games", "angry music", and even fashion trends like, "goth".

Instead of adapting to change, and trying to crest the wave of a revolution, you're stuck in old ways of thinking, refusing to admit that the internet has allowed for massive democratization of content and has changed the very fabric of society.

The point of the article was merely to point out how people grew up in the past when kids were not wrapped in cotton wool, and there was more freedom, and less interference in the minutiae of people's lives. Instead, you seem to have got into a hysterical hissy-fit and started making absurd assumptions about the opinions of thousands of millions of people that you don't know.

The article was not even written exclusively from the boomer POV, it includes Gen X as well - the first to grow up with video games, angry music and goth. Calm down.
