Default confession time: I actually like the movie Independence Day
while I'm at it. Titanic wasn't as bad as people say.

Just because a movie makes a billion dollars, doesn't make it automatically bad.

Maybe the aliens' weapons only worked on monuments...

I watched spider man 3 this night, I thought the scenes of evil spider man walking down the streets like Travolta, checking out chicks and the dacing, were silly, cheesy, unwatchable

(by the difference between evil spider and good spider man, is the evil one sports an emo haircut)

They attacked the cities because that's where the people live. The aliens sought to exterminate Humanity and take the planet's resources, not enslave us. This was explained in the scene at Area-51 where the live alien held the scientist hostage and was telepathically melting the President's brain. Yeah, the movie was ok and I hate myself for liking it too.

I never understood why the aliens didn't throw asteroids onto our major cities from orbit. They could have sat untouchable in the asteriod belt and wiped out humanity's urban centres with ease before coming in to clean up the remaining population.

Why need a biosphere if you're going to strip mine the planet for its resources and move on?

Maybe they wanted to strip mine the biosphere? I mean, if they wanted minerals, there's plenty bodies in the Solar System more suited to space-based mining than Earth.

Guys, cut it out. You've put more thought into this movie in the last twenty-four hours than the director and producer did during all of pre-production. The important thing is that Will Smith got to shoot some one-liners and Jeff Goldblum got lucky.

And if you're going to post about Spiderman 3, at least use the spoiler tags.

Independence Day wasn't meant to be an intelligent movie, it was just supposed to be some mindless fun. Add a few action scenes here, some good one-liners there, then destroy all the aliens and then you have a movie that is enjoyable as long as you don't put too much thought into it

Those of you who are saying we're putting too much thought into these movies are failures as Polytubbies. Hang your heads in shame.
