Default Echoes of Vietnam...
<img src=http://members.aol.com/gene168/hmrduh.gif align=right> Bush wants to secure an important note in the history books. Even if it means that he'll be noted as the guy who repeated Vietnam

Its tougher to hide in the desert than it is in the jungle

Also if Iraq is a 'meatgrinder' for the Allies, then the air of London is also, as more people have died as a result of air pollution in London during the same time

The civilian death toll is a monstrous thing, but why on earth should any non-American give a flying **** about US soldiers? They chose their lot.

You say it's not true? You don't like the way people respond to you? Then you change your ****ing attitude and stop denying what you know to be blatantly obvious. I don't give a **** how you respond - in fact bring it on because the more you do it the more you look like the thing you claim to despise.

I understand that he just fired some more generals who told them that additional troops wouldn't accomplish what he's hoping for. The Republican spinmeisters are saying that Bush is acting like Lincoln, firing generals until he can find one that can win.

If he had, you'd have to change all of your letterhead from "USA" to "CSA"

He's acting more like a man in denial who keeps shooting the messengers who tell him things he doesn't want to hear. Bush is in his plastic bubble and he gets made when people try to show him reality.

That's why I get so mad back in 2004 and even in 2006 when Bush kept insisting he was doing what the Generals told him needed to occur. Nothing could be further from the truth. Bush just kept firing Generals until he found one that mouthed exactly the words he wanted to hear then said "See? They agree". That's egoism not leadership and very poor egoism at that.

Hah,

Oerdin, you do realize Abizaid was supposed to retire years ago and was staying on as a favor? You can characterize his leaving as whatever you want, but there is nothing to indicate this is anything more than a normal rotation of commands. If you disagree, how long was the last CENTCOM there for? The one before? But I guess anyone who disagrees with Bush about Iraq troop levels or the color of the White House bathroom towels deserves life appointments to their position.

According to Defense officials, Abizaid submitted his retirement documents just over a month ago, shortly before Donald H. Rumsfeld was pushed out as Defense secretary. One recently retired Army general said Abizaid had wanted to retire earlier but that Rumsfeld blocked the move, insisting his war commanders stay in place. From your own souce.

General Casey who is the lead commander in Iraq was just rotated to Army Cheif of Staff, and people are still screaming he was "fired."

Give me a break dude, you used to beautiful

And of course our favorite guy weighs in again.
