I can, but I don't know from where. I don't know which European cell phone stores are reliable and export to the US. It would also make no sense to pay for extra shipping and extra wait if the phone comes out soon in the US in the near future.

I'd buy one for you in the UK and ship it out. It would be covered for the first 90 days under the insurance on my charge card so wouldn't even need to be sent insured delivery. The current level of the £/$ may make it non-feasible though; have a look at predicted prices in the US and let me know.

Seems a good deal for an 18 month contract.

Do they brand the phones at all? I hated the fact Orange branded my n95 and took half the functions out.

Default Nokia N97 - coming out June 2nd!
http://thenokiablog.com/2009/05/17/n...ving-june-2nd/

I would pre-order mine from Nokia if I knew I'd get it on the 2nd or pretty soon! I have no idea which retailer will have them and whether Nokia ships pre-ordered ones in July as promised or sooner.

Not to make another thread, but when it says "A-GPS is a network dependent feature that requires a data plan; additional charges may apply" - is that true? Can't I just download/buy GPS software that works with Symbian OS? Is there a good turn by turn GPS with voice notifications for Symbian? I want something Garmin quaity...

And then... my parents want a very very basic unlocked phone that supports European (Eastern European) networks and also AT&T network and obviously SIM card exchange. The only features needed is good battery life and possibly a camera, but $$$ is the most important factor (need it cheap!). I have no idea where to look.

I don't think it'll work with Sprint. They require CDMA devices.

Any idea when UK monthly contract release is? My contract runs out on 30th June and I'd love to get this phone if possible.

I've looked and as far as I can tell, it's available for pre-order in the UK for £499. But no definite release date has been mentioned.

It means that you may have to pay for the data transfer, not the software features, if you don't have unlimited data.

Apples answer: Nuke it from Orbit!

http://techreport.com/discussions.x/16950

this is most likely not an accidential leak, it is to keep people from buying the N97 and G2
