A poem I would like to share
I write poems. Most of them are not all that good, but I continue to learn the craft. It's rather strange because I don't really like poetry (though I love song lyrics and psalms). But anyway, today I wrote a poem that I think of more than the typical moderate merit.
We share much debate here, and weighty rational considerations. This poem I wrote for Theophany is a different kind of conversation, but perhaps you'll find it refreshing. I share my poems "on the Internet" but I hope you don't mind that I wanted to share this one with my brothers and sisters on Monachos. If any thing I wrote is unorthodox, or ill considered, simply discard it. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Grace Unmasked by David Dickens |
A beautiful poem, David.
I have bookmarked your site because it is so filled with piety. Thank you. My husband just got back from church with a small bottle of blessed water. Each person takes a little bottle from home and fills it after the service. David, have you read The Akathist of Thanksgiving? I have recorded it and listen to it as a sort of walking meditation. It is a favourite of mine. http://www.orthodox.net/akathists/ak...nksgiving.html Have a Happy New Year. Effie |
Yes, a beautiful poem and a beautiful site D.W.
I appreciated May 30th very much and the conclusion "It is the heart that is or isn’t reverent." Thank you. |
Very well-written
Thank you for sharing George |
Thank you all for the kind words. Yes, Effie I was given a recording of the Thanksgiving that I treasure very much. I have a long commute (about 41 minutes) and it gives me quite a bit of time to listen to recordings. Unfortunately I had to work extra hours this week to cover for Christmas vacation and was unable to be at any of the Theophany services. I think one of the reasons this poem is longer than the ones I usually write might be because I was missing services so much.
Though house-blessings are just around the corner so, I can't complain. |
