Which is the Purist Emotion?

In the spectrum of human emotions which is the one that is all consuming?
Examples: Anger, Hate, Love, Fear, Joy,Excitement,
When I say pure, I mean at the highest point of that emotion all other emotions become mute.

vioppyskype 11-04-2009 09:27 PM

define pure

Teeppoodiug 11-04-2009 09:27 PM

Fear is not exclusive to humans, so I choose that.

ulw7A8Po 11-04-2009 09:34 PM

Love

OShellszz 11-04-2009 10:25 PM

Love and Hate seeing as how one is usually the absence of other. Hate can easily overcome fear. Love can as well.

So you're asking, which Emotion can override all other emotions?
Which can't be right because if there is one emotion, then there is an opposite, with equal power. Love/Hate for example. I couldn't say humans have one, overbearing emotion because our emotions are so complex.

But, if I had to say........Fear, it is really exploited in our society.

Hence why I said Love and Hate.

I believe the coined term is Enlightenment, or at peace.

Peacefulness is the purest emotion

I thought about it, but I've been watching the show Lost lately. I've seen examples of someones love for another being exploited, and the fear of losing them gets them to do things they hate.

I thought about picking this, but then I realized "at peace" is a state of mind/being and not an emotion.

Lxbsvksl 11-05-2009 01:18 AM

state of mind...emotion.

Peaceful, I must call an emotion AND a state of mind.

If that's what you want to call it, then so it shall be called. No one can stop you but yourself.

n.
  1. A mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes; a feeling

Ok then...and I feel peaceful, and the term peaceful in this sentence fits that definition. There we go. SO there. Oh. Yea.

It can be seen both ways. However, fear is usually the thing in the way and love and hate overcome them. :3

Hm...I saw a wheel of emotion, and none of them seemed purer than another.

Funny little oxymorons.

or was that a paradox?

Peace is achieved by conscious effort, you have to go out of your way to be in that state, it just doesn't "happen." You said you were at peace only after you had achieved a goal, which is the opposite of the definition you posted.

excitement (as in arousal)

Hftqdxpm 11-05-2009 08:59 AM

Anger and Hate usually come together, you cannot have one without the other.
Pure emotion =/= Anger or Hate.

Fear/Joy is usually a heightened state of Excitement. Therefore, pure emotion =/= Fear/Joy.

Think about it. When you have Excitement, you also have Joy. Pure emotion =/= Excitement.

Love? Love is another form of Excitement/Joy, where the body emits similar/identical hormones. Pure emotion =/= Love.

That is just the way I see it. However, sadness is a bit hard to explain, but it isn't on the list you gave, therefore you shall forget I mentioned sadness. Oops there I go again! Sadness! How sad is that?

Sleepiness if it constitutes as an emotion.

If not. Tiredness.
