We had to have our dog put down this past summer after 18 years.. Its definately hard to say goodbye and I just wanted to pass this onto you..
The Rainbow Bridge Story Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal who has been especially close to someone dies, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. Animals who were ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them from days and times gone by. The animals and happy and content, except for one thing: they miss someone very special to them; the person they left behind. All of the animals run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in a joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look, once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together… |

Sorry for writing about Sniffy in the other thread. Didn't mean to hijack. |

I know we haven't met - yet!!! I always remember you mentioning Sniffy in your posts and thinking how great it was that someone else includes their dog in so much of their life.
We lost our chocolate lab last February ( he had been Steven's significant other for 14 years) and a big part of my life for 4 years. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him, so I can imagine the loss that you feel. Take care, Marlie |

That’s real sad, sorry to hear the news Jan.
Sniffy lived more than most humans. Born and raised in the USA. Traveled on a plane. Learned to live and adjust to a new country. Speak a new language. Survived a hit and run. Loved liked a life long partner. Some of those shinny faced humans should take a leaf out of Sniffy's book. |

I am so sorry for your loss!
I undertand your pain. We had to put our cat down this summer. He had been a HUGE part of the family for 18 years....but he was sick, and the decision to end the pain had to be made. It was a very sad day for the whole family! Even though you know it is for the better - it's still very hard to deal with. Take care! ![]() |
