Just a question of judgement I guess. I would think that more women are annoyed than liking it. Unless most of the women are fat pigs that find the attention impossible to NOT to love and cherrish. I often sit in front of Rockys with people having a presidente and see the Fatties walk by with their "Boyfriends" who are always wearing new FUGLY shirt! These SOB's should be shot for even wearing that crap! LOL I just sit there shaking my head while all the other people comment on the flashy new shirt!

I was in Banco Progresso on time waiting to close a small account but had to wait while a Dominican was taking a fat canadian womans money through a wire transfer she was trying to arrange to back her lover on a business deal. Bet she lost her ass on that one.

I just wish that all these women finding the PERFECT love in the DR would post their pictures to make what I say LOOK absolutely right. Where is your pick DB? Am I right or what?

Is that "yes because it's a valid reason" or "yes because they can get away with doing what ever they like" ?

I am slightly concerned because my husband works in a hotel where most of the staff are also aware of our recent marriage. I would hate to think that he too could lose his job just because we tied the knot!

To get back to the original subject, whether they have the right to fire him or not, its very simple:

You mentioned yourself that its against company policy to fraternize with guests. Its obvious that he violated this company policy, well, obvious to me and to the management.

Dominican Babe, with 235 posts under your belt you have been around dr1 long enough to know that you don't need to give us much of an opening to get us on one of our favorite topics: sankies.

If you want this thread to go away, then stop responding. Make your last response your last.

Oh !!!I am sorry I did not mean to portray myself as miserable..I am looking forward to coming to DR. I hope his family influences him a bit as they are successful business men in their own right in DR. (It did sound rather bleak..sorry!) Thanks! Pam

Tony C - I wish I was wherever you are - you'd certainly get a slap!

You shouldn't assume anything. First of all I'm not Dominican, I'm English - the name was chosen just for a laugh when I first found DR1 (had I known I would spend so much time on this site I probably would have chosen something more appropriate).

Secondly, I was never seduced.

Thirdly, my husband is not a sankie.

Larry [/B] No I don't like your posts just like you don't like my posts and harass me whenever you get the chance.. but regardless.. she's married to the man now. Why even spread negative energy her way? She didn't come here asking for advice about her relationship she just wanted some opinions about her husbands job situation.. your sarcasm was uncalled for and childish and not helpful in anyway, shape or form... She's been around here long enough to know about Sankies

Do you really think after reading your simple posts she's going to go back and re-evaluate her marriage to the man she loves because of your words? You and I both know the answer to that is NO. You just wanted to be snarky. Quit spreading negative energy! Stop trying to make everyone miserable just because you are.

yes, you husband can lose his 100 pesos / day job for sleeping with a fat guest from england or from any other country. The resort owners don't care if one of their low-life sankie marries a fat undesired woman from a foreign country, its just they don't allow staff members kissing them in hotel property, let alone sleeping with them in their rooms. You can take your sankie out of the hotel and do whatever you like (married or not), but your sankie can't enter your room.
He enters your room, he is fired.
Does that make any difference if he loses his 3k pesos / month job? He can make more money washing windshields on a busy interection, besides, you will always be supporting him financially (anyway). So does it really make any difference?

The Touristas are paying guests! Key word here is "Paying"! The "Sankis/Animation team/bartenders, keep the girls coming back for more! Now when these "Wives, and Girlfriends" come for their one or two weeks and then leave,"No Problem" Their "Sankis"(read "Hotel Employee") can move on to their next "Victim! When they plan to stay in the DR,"Si Problema"!The women are very gealous(as they have need to be) and the hotel employee might get caught by his wife or girlfriend, plying his trade with another "Tourista".So with his wife too close, and potencial problems, they "selectively" imposed the rule! Your husband is probably OK,since you don't live here! Good Luck! Cris Colon

No, I'm not particularly upset, I don't even know the guy. I am, however, concerned because my husband works at one of the other hotels in Playa Dorada and the majority of the staff there know we recently got married. It worries me a little in case he too were to loose his job. I know that life in DR - particularly at the moment with the state of the peso - is difficult enough when you do have a job, I can't imagine how people would cope with no income.

LISTEN UP EVERYONE - AND YES - I'M USING CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE I WANT TO SHOUT - VERY VERY LOUD

I WILL NOT BE DRAWN ANY FURTHER INTO THE DIRECTION YOU ARE ALL TRYING TO TAKE THIS THREAD - IT IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT SANKIES. I ASKED A PERFECTLY REASONABLE QUESTION AND EXPECTED PERFECTLY REASONABLE ANSWERS.

MAYBE I EXPECTED TOO MUCH

You know what just shut up okay? You don't know DB or her situation. Just because your life is typical and redundant doesn't mean hers is. Get a life. She took a vow before God to love and cherish this man.. who are you to trivalize it? Dominican men who work at resorts have hearts and are capable of being loved too.. you're just jealous because they get more chicks than you'll ever dream. Every time you post it's so obvious you're a sore loser..

I was only kidding

lots of luck to you

it amazing. just do a search on sankies and you will see how you get the same story of women marrying these resort employees.

and it seems that for every girl that gets "played", you have another one that comes along and says that her case is different.

these guys have heard it over and over and although it did not seem so, they actually were just trying to warn her.

I have personally seen it at the resorts and it is pitiful.

to DB, she has been warned and hopefully she can just shrug it off like Larry said because her relationship is the exception.

He works at the pleasure of the Manager not himself. He can be fired for any reason. He can probably get liquidations and easily another job if he was any good. I don't think there is any "right to work law in the DR" but you would have to check with a attorney. I don't think that there are Sex discrimination Laws either.

Regards
