LOL! I like the Brugal signs, especially on Playa Rincon, but Brugal doesn't like me! OK, the only time I don't drink is when I'm driving - don't want to hit a dump and spill my brink......LOL |

...but when in DR, enjoying the sun and the beach, I usually order a 'vermouth blanco con limón'...
That is a favorite drink in Uruguay...but over there we ask for it by the name brand, which is "Martini & Rossi"...you have to specify "blanco" or they will serve you the original one which is red... Always with a twist of lemon on the rocks...and accompanied by tons of "tapas" or "appetizers"...that's the way it's served over there...but I can do away with the appetizers...just as long as I'm in DR!!! This is a very 'light' drink, doesn't give me a headache or get me drunk... At night, before going to the club, if I can get it, I have a shot of "Mamajuana"... How's that for someone who doesn't drink? |

I am all about the Cuba Libres - can't beat 'em.
As for non-alcoholic, I am obsessed with batidas de pina. I say I'm not going to have them, then I have one... and an hour later I have a craving for another... then the next day... P.S. I fly home a week later having drank a good 30 batidas de pina. Con Carnation, claro, 5 pesos extra. |

Had a friend from Boston come to visit yesterday. He, his wife and daughter, are "AI"-ing in Bayaibe. He got to stay over night,(His wife doesn't know me very well!) Anyhow,I picked up 2 cold 6-packs of Presidente, 7 oz. bottles, at Supermercado National. When we got home,I put the cold beer in the freezer. After 30 minutes I got out two ice cold bottles, complete with "Vestido de Novia"("Wedding dress":the condensation freezes on the cold bottle and leaves a "Frosty" white "Wedding Dress"!) I wraped each in a paper towel and we sat on the patio. That first ice cold swallow was fantastic,The carbonation, and the "Bite" were just perfect. So was the second swallow, and also the third! That was it! Gone! I went for two more.Same story! The great thing about the "Little" bottle is ,that it "chills" fast, and is gone before it gets warm! I highly recommend the purchase of,"Mass Quantities"(remember the "Coneheads?, They are from France!) of these tiny bottles! We also made an afternoon visit to one of the "Massage Parlors" now becoming very popular in Santo Domingo, but that is a topic better suited for discussion on the "Mars/Penis" Forum!Cris Colon
