HaHa

I've seen this one before. Unfortunately I could claim several of these as something I did with my vehicles over the years

I really freaked out the kids one time when the regular key ignition in my sons old Chevy truck wore out, so I wired around it with an old extension chord. To turn the truck on you plugged the extension chord into itself.

Yup, who cares of some of these fixes are completely life threatening to those in the vehicle and on the road. They're cheap and do the trick....at least for a few seconds! I'm kind of shocked there aren't more men(yes, I'm thinking most of these contraptions are 'man'-made) making car parts out of duct tape. ??? I'll run and hide now. Carry on.

Yup. 'Been there. Done that......at least some of these! What teenager hasn't fixed a muffler with a pop can? In fact, my greenhouse generator has a "pop can special" on it's muffler right now. I had a Hyundai Pony in my early 20's and towards the end of it's life, I worked the wipers by pulling on a string back and forth. My mother's white Ford Taurus has been sporting a "bum bum" for many years now. She backed up and smashed the bumber cover and bits fell off and the whole left 1/3 had serious cracks. So, I used a couple rolls of white duct tape to put it all back together. Then, to stop the duct tape from aging in the sun and crumbling/falling off, I sealed the whole area with Ford's "Clear Coat" spray, which has UV inhibitors in it. The duct tape works just fine.

My father had a 1961 Dodge for many, many years. It was black. As the body rusted from the bottom up, he would put rows of black electric tape to hide the rust so that in the end, it began to look like a hovercraft.

I'm guilty as well. In high school my brother and I made a whole car out of half a VW and electrical conduit we stole off a job site at the high school (we couldn't afford to buy anything then). It was for off-the-road use only. We never did bother with putting brakes on it!

in the 70's, my father and I helped one of my sister's cars pass inspection by creating a new fender assembly around the driver's side headlight, with stiff wire, cool-whip containers and duct tape. the headlight was wired into the cool-whip container which was aimed by some forgotten method and the fender was completely duct tape painted light blue. my sister sort of bragged that she never spent more than $25 on a vehicle (prices at that time), but probably time lost due to malfunction and repair cost much more than that. one instance comes to mind where crossed battery wiring caused total permanent temperate restructuring of the vehicle
